Jun 5, 2017Beholder is definitely a great addition to games that examine life in oppressive States, and I was glad to see that it manages to be a fun game to play despite its grim theme. With great art and music and plenty of choices, which lead to different endings, Beholder is definitely a game you should be playing.

May 24, 2017Beholder is a fascinating game that gives you a cool, clockwork world to play around in. It also tells a story about the difficulties of living in a totalitarian state, but some of that can be overshadowed by the depth of the game's mechanics and the ease with which you can undo decisions you've made. It's still a game worth playing and experiencing, but perhaps one that won't stick with you after you've played through it.

May 24, 2017Ultimately, Beholder will appeal to folks who enjoy a slow-burning mystery, playing an anti-hero, dystopic storylines, or challenging moral dilemmas. It’s a narrative experience that tests the kind of person you are, for better or worse, and offers an engaging opportunity to dabble in ethical ambiguity. Sometimes it’s fun to be the bad guy, and sometimes, it’s fun just to watch.

Jun 6, 2017Beholder is pithy, with small sketches of character and darkness. Sadly, submission to the game's mechanics means much is lost in the God of efficiency.
