    Overhaul has done the seemingly impossible and brought one the most important RPGs ever to the iPad. Better yet, they did an amazing job.

    So should you buy this game? Well, that depends on your answer to two questions. First – do you have time on your hands? Second – are you willing to play one of the best RPGs ever? If so, take it from me – three weeks, two days, and 95 hours later, I'm still loving this game. You'll love the new upgrades to the original content, and don't be surprised if the game makes you rethink what you thought you enjoyed about RPGs.

    As much as I love everything about the game's mechanics, story, and artwork, this specific port does not work as well as it could have.

    Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition knows who it's aiming for and hits the mark almost perfectly, but as a result, gamers yet to enjoy the deep complexity of such an RPG may be quickly overwhelmed and even put off by its clunky design.

    As a precursor to games such as the Mass Effect or Dragon Age series, it's an immensely important game and one that's aged well.

    More a re-release than an enhancement, but still a fascinating reminder of how engaging a good role-player can be even without modern graphics.

    With a steep entry price of $9.99, this probably isn't the game for anyone unsure about whether an unashamedly hardcore, old-school RPG is the right fit for them. If, on the other hand, you played and loved Baldur's Gate back in the day then you already know what to do, and let's be honest you've probably already had your money's worth from the last weekend alone.

    I have to say I'm new to this type of game. I never played DnD and didn't get into RPG games until 6 years after the original was released.I have to say I'm new to this type of game. I never played DnD and didn't get into RPG games until 6 years after the original was released. This game is text heavy!!! Not that I'm complaining it is more of a warning. Prepare to read a lot... or skip a lot and find yourself lost. The controls work but aren't tight enough to be considered good. I find myself tapping and tapping and tapping to finally highlight one of my characters. IT IS ALSO EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. I consider myself to be an experienced gamer with over 2 decades of experience playing on the hard difficulty on most games. But this game, even on the easiest setting, is impossible to survive. I think I have accomplished in 7 hours what most people would complete in 2. Unless you are a DnD fan and enjoy stressful, highly strategic game play don't get this.… Full Review »

Using the index finger may not the perfect interface but its pretty damn close much better than I expected - and I'm real fussy. I have the PC ver too but choose to play exclusively on my IPad. Its just better. The game is as brilliant and re-playable as it ever was and its barely crashed in over 8 hours of play. The save system is subtle and intuitive and the graphics and sound are exactly as they should be. There's weeks of play in here for like 7 quid. Wow. What more could you ask for? Amazing stuff. Just buy it and roll on BG II & Planescape Torment… Full Review »

    BGEE has been out for more than 2 years already and during this time I've spent next to 500 hours in this game.

    Not only BGEE does provide the most fluent experience of BG1 for me, it also gives the most detailed UI with all the information I need about my characters' attacks, THACO and damage, provides the Quick loot bar, lets me use unique and interesting kits such as the Shadowdancer and the Blackguard.

    BGEE looks wonderful on my big monitor and from time to time I change the level of zoom for more control of the battle.

    I approve the new NPCs: they have their own unmatched personality and good voice-acting. Dorn has become an essential part of any evil group of mine. I like his style and the abilities he brings. Mark Meer's work on voice-acting of Rasaad and Baeloth should be awarded. Neera brings the chance to finally see wild surges with flying cows and summoning demons right in the centre of a peaceful tavern.

    Beamdog has been constantly improving the game after its launch and has been trying to fix even the slightest inconsistencies players report. I appreciate the level of communication between the players and the developers. On a daily basis we can speak with CamDawg, Phillip Daigle and other developers on our feature requests and different bug reports via the forum.

    The multiplayer mode runs fine and has let me and my wife complete BGEE together in what will be remembered as the funniest playthrough for us ever.

    If you ask me, what does BGEE lack, I would answer that an expansion or a DLC would really finish the job. I've read Beamdog has been working on this, so I predict my wish would be fulfilled.

    I could install the SCS mod, the BG2 Tweaks and the BG 1 NPC Project on BGEE so I never ever wished to return to the vanilla version of the game.
