If you're from the crowd that remembers it the first time around, you'll get the chance to revisit an artful and wonderfully atmospheric gaming oddity filled with sudden deaths and clever set-pieces. If you're new to it, you're probably in for an hour or so of intrigued confusion, followed by a quick trip to a FAQ.

A remake of a classic game, in which the controlls are so sluggish that only nostalgia can appreciate it.

Though maddening at times, it's easy to see Another World's rigidly scripted cinematic nature as a precursor to modern linear blockbusters like Uncharted, making it a fascinating, albeit antiquated curio.

True to the original, puzzle-solving and survival rely on brutal hair's-breadth accuracy and timing, enjoyment of which hangs on your nostalgia quotient. Vintage gamers will lap up the cryptic cut scenes and tricky puzzles, but newcomers… consider yourself warned.

Another World is an old game. Playing it again today brings back a lot of memories, some of which were true twenty years ago, but today, not anymore. Fortunately, the touch screen controls have been well implemented, the addition of checkpoints and the graphical overhaul (keeping the original gorgeous visual style) bring out the fun of re-discovering this adventure, even though it's one that is more based upon memory than skill. But when you are not an oldie yourself, you may rant against its difficulty, a really short lifespan (when not accounting for retries) and a gameplay that are... out of this world.

A lovingly remastered version of an iconic game, but sadly one that will only frustrate and annoy when not viewed through rose-tinted spectacles.

The gameplay never gets repetitive. The graphics and sciece fiction ambiance are amazing considering the limitations of the original time of release. On top of that everything feels cool. All of it is achieved thanks to the amazing creativity of the producers and the will to break with norms and commercial imperatives. Full Review »

I cannot endorse this game enough. In a market where games are all about as much possible playtime for hours and hours of mindlessI cannot endorse this game enough. In a market where games are all about as much possible playtime for hours and hours of mindless entertainment, it's hard to come across a game like this. This is the pinnacle of game design. There is no forced tutorial, and only an optional controls screen (which is completely unnecessary because of how well the game teaches you the controls by itself). The story telling is fantastic. It's insanely difficult to tell such an endearing and exciting story without using any dialogue or names for each character. It's the most pure storytelling I've ever encountered. It may not be complex, but it's dang good. But most importantly, this game is fun. There is no overused game mechanic. The entire short experience brings new things every second. This game is fantastic. I love it. Best hour of a game I've ever played. Full Review »
