The puzzles in this platformer are unforgiving-expect to die a lot-but rarely too mind-bending. The basically non-verbal story is energetic and thrilling, and in spite of a relatively short amount of gameplay (one or two hours for many) Another World still feels like a standard-setter in action-game design.

Another World 20th Anniversary looks, sounds and controls great and is easily one of the best applications found on the Apple market. Another World 20th Anniversary gets 5 out of 5 stars.

Getting through Another World is not a cakewalk; it's a difficult and challenging game.

For those who owned Another World in the 90s, the 20th Anniversary version for iOS is a boon as it adds new challenges while remaining just as intriguing as it did back then.

Another World is a cult game that after 20 years is perfectly playable and capable to enjoy the player. There are several flaws in the iOS porting, starting from a touch interface not so precise and fast but you simply have to buy this game.

An extraordinary example of a 20-year-old classic being brought into a new era with the utmost care and respect.

Aside from an old-skool difficulty level that is exacerbated by touchscreen controls that are understandably less responsive than a keyboard or joystick, the iOS version of Another World is flawless. You'll find in it all of the quality of the original: exceptional atmosphere, surprisingly contemporary gameplay, and a successful platform/adventure mix.

Apart from the above foibles of game play, Another World: 20th Anniversary is a fine piece of work. It's going to be a satisfying fix for nostalgia junkies (you can even opt for 16-bit aesthetics instead of HD if you so desire), and damned good fun for those of you who have only recently been transported to Another World.

A great example of how to offer a classic game to a new audience with improved graphics and sound for a low price. Another World - 20th Annivesary is every bit as hard as it once was, but this iOS version is far from a lazy port. It offers an improved core experience with the option to play the 1991 version, features excellent touch controls, and gives a new breed of gamers the chance to explore why this classic was such a big deal.

Real attention has been paid to making sure justice has been down to this handheld version. Everything you loved about the 1991 release is here to savour, and the game has translated surprisingly well to the iPhone. Just beware the crazy difficulty.

The fact that we enjoyed Another World 20 years after it first debuted is a testament to its greatness. Other games have copied its cinematic storytelling and puzzles, but this is where it all began. Young or old, you'll appreciate much of what this engaging adventure has to offer.

One of Another World's largest shortcomings, which is really a product of its original design, is that it's more of an exercise in repetition than actual skill.

A wonderful reminder of how unique a video game can truly be. Whether you're a fan of the original release or a gamer who's never heard of the work of Eric Chahi before, Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition is one you'll want to be adding to your collection.

If you're from the crowd that remembers it the first time around, you'll get the chance to revisit an artful and wonderfully atmospheric gaming oddity filled with sudden deaths and clever set-pieces. If you're new to it, you're probably in for an hour or so of intrigued confusion, followed by a quick trip to a FAQ.

A remake of a classic game, in which the controlls are so sluggish that only nostalgia can appreciate it.

Though maddening at times, it's easy to see Another World's rigidly scripted cinematic nature as a precursor to modern linear blockbusters like Uncharted, making it a fascinating, albeit antiquated curio.

True to the original, puzzle-solving and survival rely on brutal hair's-breadth accuracy and timing, enjoyment of which hangs on your nostalgia quotient. Vintage gamers will lap up the cryptic cut scenes and tricky puzzles, but newcomers… consider yourself warned.

Another World is an old game. Playing it again today brings back a lot of memories, some of which were true twenty years ago, but today, not anymore. Fortunately, the touch screen controls have been well implemented, the addition of checkpoints and the graphical overhaul (keeping the original gorgeous visual style) bring out the fun of re-discovering this adventure, even though it's one that is more based upon memory than skill. But when you are not an oldie yourself, you may rant against its difficulty, a really short lifespan (when not accounting for retries) and a gameplay that are... out of this world.

A lovingly remastered version of an iconic game, but sadly one that will only frustrate and annoy when not viewed through rose-tinted spectacles.

The gameplay never gets repetitive. The graphics and sciece fiction ambiance are amazing considering the limitations of the original time of release. On top of that everything feels cool. All of it is achieved thanks to the amazing creativity of the producers and the will to break with norms and commercial imperatives. Full Review »

I cannot endorse this game enough. In a market where games are all about as much possible playtime for hours and hours of mindlessI cannot endorse this game enough. In a market where games are all about as much possible playtime for hours and hours of mindless entertainment, it's hard to come across a game like this. This is the pinnacle of game design. There is no forced tutorial, and only an optional controls screen (which is completely unnecessary because of how well the game teaches you the controls by itself). The story telling is fantastic. It's insanely difficult to tell such an endearing and exciting story without using any dialogue or names for each character. It's the most pure storytelling I've ever encountered. It may not be complex, but it's dang good. But most importantly, this game is fun. There is no overused game mechanic. The entire short experience brings new things every second. This game is fantastic. I love it. Best hour of a game I've ever played. Full Review »
