If you need a break from "Mario Party," this is a good place to start.
-
Kids probably won't mind much, and they're definitely the target audience here. Pirates' Carnival isn't spectacular in any one sense, but the solid mini-games and well-used license are enough to put it near the top of the distinctly uncompetitive party game genre.
-
If you and your friends are fans of the series, as popular as it is, Pirates Carnival would be a great way to kick back and have a friendly competition with each other. Those who are not familiar with the series or are a little older may not find the premise or even the gameplay itself all that interesting and not quite the party they were expecting.
-
Pirates' Carnival isn't the buried treasure party-gamers have been looking for. It's more like the fool's gold of party games.
-
The gameplay is absolutely textbook in its design, and while a few of the games can be pretty entertaining, the sheer amount of variety is far too small.
-
Game InformerI want to preface my statements that way, so that when I tell you how awful Pirate's Carnival is , maybe, just maybe, you'll believe me. [Sept. 2006, p.92]
-
Feels like another "phone-it-in" anime game. The mini-games are boring, the Captain events feel tired and generic, and there's no replay value to be found.
