PlayboyBest of all, the game's environments are destructible, so if it exists, Hulk can smash it. [July 2003, p.34]
-
It is unique in that the game is sometimes more like the James Bond games when Banner is on screen, sometimes cerebral when Banner needs to solve a puzzle, sometimes like a shooting game when the Hulk is rampaging, and sometimes like a fighting game when you really need to master the Hulks moves in order to defeat the worst of your enemies.
-
Nintendo PowerSimply smashing! The style has a Gamma-irradiated glow, the plotline is true to the comic series and the game play isn't overly cerebral. [Aug 2003, p.143]
-
Entertainment WeeklyWe would love to see an open-world game with less linearity and an even richer story. But for now, this action brawler delivers loads of mindless mayhem. [13 June 2003, p.104]
-
The addictive gameplay keeps you coming back and the visual style is unique and easy on the eyes.
-
Hurt by the tedious and boring Banner missions and a smacked around by a troubled and immovable camera, Hulk suffers in areas that should have been tightened before release. Those problems aside, Hulk is still an "incredible" source of enjoyment.
-
A fun smash-everything experience with slick controls and fast, furious gameplay, and it will leave action fans satisfied. However, due to its short lifespan and repetitive nature, it is really a game more suited for rental than purchase.
-
Finally, in what is perhaps the best extra Ive yet seen, a special cheat code can unlock the gray hulk, which in true gray hulk style, cracks wise at every opportunity, laying his opponents down with his special brand of verbal abuse.
-
The Hulkster follows commands easily, the camera gives you an excellent view of the action and you don't need to mash 20 buttons for every combat move you make.
-
What it lacks in fancy music and top-notch graphics it makes up for by allowing you to slip on the green skin of The Hulk and crush everything in sight. While it wont be the kind of game you will play for many days straight, it is a fun distraction.
-
Play MagazineOne thing I didn't expect from such a mainstream game was intense boss battles, but they're in here too. The first few are easy enough, but they're in here too. The first few are easy enough, but the last couple are a real bitch. [July 2003, p.70]
