Purists of the comic should take heart, because the infamous sonic clap and ground smashing jump are included, along with a number of other moves that take advantage of his fury. In fact, attacking builds up a rage meter, which allows you to boost your damage or unleash a super-powerful attack towards your enemies.
-
As I kept playing it got boring, but worse, it got cheap.
-
Good, clean clobberin fun. Its got its problems, mostly with the Banner sections, but its fun. And sometimes that's all I want.
-
Cheat Code CentralWhat I would have liked to have seen is the player having the ability to change into the Hulk after things got hairy, more free roaming areas, more moves for the Hulk as he progressed through the game and more solid development in the Banner levels.
-
Hulk provides thoroughly enjoyable action interrupted by moments of painfully simplistic stealth gameplay.
-
For all that The Hulk misses on, like the repetitive level designs and the clumsy stealth action sequences, the game gets enough of it right to tip the scales in its favor.
-
Too simple for its own good, yet somehow likable in the end. While the beat 'em up action is undoubtedly repetitive, it was just solid enough to keep me playing for another level.
-
Marvel Comics fans will be very happy playing as The Hulk, but most gamers will find it uninspiring.
-
TotalGames.netGiven the subject matter we cant knock the developer for this but the relative limitations set by the cast of characters makes this the perfect microcosm for The Hulk: bludgeoning, loud, unthinking and very occasionally, as soft as muck.
-
The levels in which you play the Hulk's sulky alter ego, Dr. Bruce Banner, suck: He only gets to slink around, avoiding guards and solving simple puzzles meant to evoke computer hacking. Me no like! Arrrrrgh!
-
The novelty of the Hulk scenes wears off eventually if you're not a huge fan of the comic books, and the Banner sections are disappointing. Still, it doesn't anger us as much as some movie tie-in mediocrities.
-
Game InformerYou'll pray [the Banner] stages end quickly. But, of course, once they do come to a close, you find yourself back at square one - bored to death by The Hulk's repetitive nature. [July 2003, p.109]
-
While I'd usually applaud this type of game design this one is simply too repetitive to truly recommend.
-
Its disappointing to see it visibly tail off the way it does when it started out so promisingly.
-
The bad enemy AI, poor enemy variety and extreme linearity makes it hard to want to play any of the levels more than once. In the case of the Banner levels, you won't want to play them at all.
