Giving the characters stories within the game not only lends them more life than most racing game characters, it gives players a good reason to keep going until you've seen them all.
-
Cheat Code CentralThe ease of the control system makes this a perfect rental for a day or two.
-
While Freaky Flyers is not going to compete with "Mario Kart" by any means, it is a fun title with a dash of innuendo, a drop of multiplayer, and about 2 sprinkles too little of speed. All in all, a fun adult title in the land of 'serious sims' and 'shell tossing plumber-racer' games.

Nintendo PowerUnlockable characters and tons of secrets add to the game's replayability. [Oct 2003, p.140]
-
Lots to see and do for kart racing fans -- if they don't mind the atmosphere.
-
There are only 12 tracks, but they're all fun, and there are quite a few hidden extras to keep you coming back for more. Most important is the first-time experience though, and I am very pleased to say that it is a blast.
-
Surprisingly entertaining. It's comical, smart, and deeper than we imagined.
-
For a racing game, Freaky Flyers offers a good deal of entertainment value. My main gripe is the speed, which is just too slow for a game centered on racing. Still, the game is fun.
-
A fun game, but fans of this type of game might be best to either break out their dusty Super NESes or N64s and play one of the Mario Kart titles ... or wait until Mario Kart: Double Dash!! comes out for GameCube.
-
Play MagazineTogether with a narrator that truly enhances the experience (making this the polar opposite of 90 percent of games with narrators), Freaky Fliers is like a comedy album, cartoon and racing-shooter, all wrapped into one tasty toon tortilla. [Aug 2003, p.70]
-
Has some enjoyable moments, but the course design and weapon selection are pretty standard.
-
It is simply not fun...and what pains me even more is that the dog-fighting mechanics could easily have made this an amazing game!
-
Had Freaky Flyers been a bit more focused, it could have easily been a top tier game, but as-is, the game simply spreads itself too thin.
-
While the concept is good and the presentation is at times outstanding, the core gameplay isn't strong enough to separate it from the swarms of mediocre kart racers that have come before it.
