The sparse menus aren't up to Nintendo's usual standard and the game is lacking in an abundance of minigames, but with a storming collection of songs covered and fun and challenging gameplay, Donkey Konga 2 is perhaps the best party game ever. [NGC Pocket]

It is evident that Nintendo has made the effort to make this game more appealing towards the general public with more hip and modern music then the original.

The decision to toss videogame themes and classic oldies songs for a bunch of forgettable rock/pop and hip-hop tunes marks a bad move on the part of Nintendo. Yes, it's cool that Nintendo has tried to appeal to a mass audience, but it can't forget its fanbase either.

The game doesn't push the boundaries of gaming in any form, although it's certainly much more fun than Donkey Konga with more content and a better defined 'videogame' structure encompassing it.

If you didn't notice already, this means that there were not only no Nintendo songs, but there were no children songs, either.

It's a shame that there were so few Nintendo themes and so much of only a few genres.
