This is definitely an experience that is best shared, but even if you are forced to play alone, you wont find a more challenging or visually stunning Batman experience than Rise of Sin Tzu.
-
It's ultimately a pretty basic beat-'em-up, but the strong production values and a solid combat system make for a gratifying experience.
-
Certain aspects such as the graphics and the virtual simulated store have merit, but the gameplay itself doesn't push this game ahead of the pack.
-
Surprisingly good, but also painfully unreplayable.
-
Nintendo PowerGameplay is not deep, but it's fast and exciting. [Jan 2004, p.158]
-
Its just a derivative brawler game with a Batman-sugar coating.
-
Lacking that magic spark, Batman is frustrating in its simplicity. Delve into this one if you're a Batman fan, but be prepared for the story to be the most (if not only) motivating play mechanic.
-
While a lot of good ideas went into Batman: ROTS, the execution turned Batman goodness into controller-throwing-near-DVD-in-the-microwave frustration.
-
Ironically, Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu has more extras than many superior games. This title is absolutely stacked; its just a shame you wont want to play for as long as the game could theoretically last.
-
If you look on the bright side, the game is better than "Dark Tomorrow." However, its worse than the old Batman the Movie coin-op.
-
Ive never seen better vocal acting and cut-scenes in a videogame. Its just like the cartoon show, only more mature.
-
No, its not nearly as bad as Kemcos travesty, but theres nothing compelling about it. Having all of the unlockable moves and techniques means nothing if theres no real need to have them there...Simply mashing the B button will get you from start to finish with little trouble.
-
Play MagazineThough the action is on the repetitive side, unique aspects help the game rise a notch above average. [Nov 2003, p.73]
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyAn unforgiving difficulty level and harsh time limits severely undercut the fun... [and b]am-powing hordes of goons becomes achingly repetitive over time. [Nov 2003, p.172]
-
On any system the combat stinks, but on the 'Cube, it's absolutely horrid. [Dec 2003, p.159]
-
A flawed, tiresome combat system and bland level design should be reason enough to stay out of Gotham.
-
Not only is the gameplay not fun, it is downright boring. The button mashing beat em up is a genre that needs to be done away with and this game is a perfect example why.
