Its not exactly a sequel, but more of a standalone expansion pack with improved gameplay. Get it!
-
An awesome pickup for any Yu-Gi-Oh! fan.
-
Pocket GamesA must-own title for fans of the cartoon and a strong buy for fans of strategy games in general. [Summer 2003, p.52]
-
Other than the addition of a few hundred more cards, a slight tweak in pace, and a new style challenge interface, there's not much change to the overall game design. It's still a great strategy game.
-
What this game lacks in glitz and glamour, it makes up in structure, skill and longevity.
-
netjakSimply what a game is supposed to be. No tricks, gimmicks, and no need for hype. It's pure, addictive, mind-buzzing gameplay.
-
Diehard fans will probably find the added cards and light quest mode to be worth the investment, but casual "Yu-Gi-Oh" players who already have "Eternal Duelist Soul" may not want to shell out $30 just for a minor update.
-
Game InformerPainfully addictive. [June 2003, p.119]
-
It's the closest one yet to capturing the spirit of the card game.
-
A fun game, and the deck creation element is very addictive. Still a bit pointless though, and could be better presented. [GamesMaster]
-
Don't get me wrong, I do like the game. It's just that perhaps I'll wait until a version with playable God Cards is released before I buy another Yu-Gi-Oh! game.
-
Not the kind of game that everyone will embrace. This game is predicated on those who like the cerebral challenge of card-driven chess in a static environment. This is not a reflexive challenge.
-
Nintendo PowerThe trading card game rules could be confusing for a Yu-Gi-Oh! novice, but the basic play control is intuitive. [May 2003, p.140]
-
A serviceable, lightweight entry in the genre. It stays true enough to the source material, which should please fans, but the game's rather dry presentation may make it inaccessible to outsiders.
-
If youre unfamiliar with the card game, youll want to stay faraway from this game. Because unlike The Eternal Duelist Soul, this game has no tutorial.
-
The graphics and sound are rather bland, and novice players will spend a lot of time blundering through their mistakes until they figure out how to play the game through trial and error. Not much fun at all.
