  1. It is incredible! I have not enjoyed a portable game this much since the Game Boy Advance's launch.
  2. Special mention going to the sound effects and music which are superb, every blow and block is recreated whilst a thumping tune plays in the background.
  3. A must if you want a great portable fighting game.
  4. 88
Easily one of the most technically impressive GBA games out there, and probably the best portable fighter as well.
  5. 85
An extremely pretty game and a relatively fun game, though it's more fun if you include an actual human opponent into the mix.
  6. Game Informer

Tekken is pretty kick-ass on the Game Boy Advance... The game looks great. [Mar 2002, p.90]
  7. Pocket Games
    85
Despite its small stature, the game packs more punch than many brawlers 10 times its size. [Summer 2002, p.32]
  8. Compared to the massive rendered cutscenes in "Tekken 3," Tekken Advance looks like a small-scale side story of the series, rather than a fully-fledged sequel.
  9. Namco may have had to cut a few corners to fit the 3D fighter onto Nintendo's handheld, but the end product looks and feels enough like the original game to succeed.
  10. 80
By combining solid pixel animations with awesome scaling and rotation effects, the developers have achieved an impressive, psuedo-3D effect.
  11. 80
Put into perspective and it being an ambitious "hit the ground running" success by Namco, Tekken Advance is a stunning achievement for GBA and deserves the praise lavished on it.
  12. A polished 2D fighting game that won't disappoint the core audience of Tekken fans, but one that's also accessible enough for those simply looking for a well-made fighting game to play on the go.
  13. Nintendo Power
    70
Designed to please hard-core Tekken fans. [Dec 2001, p.172]
  14. Electronic Gaming Monthly
    58
Tekken loses out big time by not supporting the GBA's one-cartridge multiplayer feature. [Feb 2002, p.172]

Tekken Advance is a surprisingly thorough version of the console games, something you don't see as often as you should. Pros: ExcellentTekken Advance is a surprisingly thorough version of the console games, something you don't see as often as you should. Pros: Excellent graphics, control, and audio; a limited, but handy variety of fighters and arenas. Cons: Very limited, from modes to unlockable content. Full Review »
