Much improved from the last GBA release (Season of Ice) not only in the stages themselves (all of them are fairly enjoyable as opposed to being hit or miss) but the flying has improved so the platforming isn't as hard. There's a lot of challenges that are take it or leave it to continue on so you can do as much as you feel.... but the deeper you go (I'm anal and have to 100% it like a freak) the more challenging the side quests become which I like despite the fact some of the side quests are taxing and repetitive.... This is one of the hardest games I've ever played. Not because the difficulty level is too high, but because the mind-numbing boredom it gave me made me want to kill myself before I played more of it. There is absolutely no substance to this game whatsoever, with the game mostly based around the boring collection of gems and occasionally attacking easy to defeat enemies. While it has good graphics for a GBA game, these are cancelled out by the completely uninspired and forgettable soundtrack. Maybe diehard Spyro fans could enjoy this game, but I was sorely disappointed with it. If you're looking for a good platformer on the GBA, there are much better choices. Expand

To be honest, I was quite pleased at how the first Spyro turned out for the GBA. The only gripe I had with it was the persp[ective in which the game was played. Once you got past that, it was a blast to play. Now, the second one is out and what do I have to say about it? Well, Season of Flame is even better. With better graphics, gameplay and control; who could ask for more? My only gripe To be honest, I was quite pleased at how the first Spyro turned out for the GBA. At any rate, though, This is a Spyro game through and through. Spyro:Season of Flame is an exceptional game. Not to be missed by the masses.... Expand

VU Games should just make GBA games of spyro then ds or home console games cause this game is amazing! Sure it has some flaws and not as memorable as the games on the ps1 but it is still great!

This is the one of the closer and best Spyro game not made by Insomniac games. The gameplay is very lose and faithful to the original trilogy. My main issue is its depth perception. Jumping and gliding across platforms can be a ****

1. Spyro 2’s major and quite glaring shortcoming – boredom. There’s plenty to do here, but none of it really makes you want to carry on the story through to its end because none of it is particularly fun.
  2. It’s the closest thing to a vaguely taxing "Banjo Kazooie" -style adventure we might ever get.

Colorful graphics combined with challenging gameplay.
