  1. It’s the closest thing to a vaguely taxing "Banjo Kazooie" -style adventure we might ever get.

The sound effects are brilliant and blend well with the cartoonish atmosphere of the game.
  3. 88
Colorful graphics combined with challenging gameplay.
  4. A great game...The only things that slightly detract are the shortness of the overall game, and the sameness of many of the mini-games.
  5. 85
So much has changed...for the better. Improved, tighter controls, more tasks to complete, more variety in the level design, a longer quest, and a better use of the isometric perspective.
  6. It looks better, it sounds better, it plays better, and it's ultimately more enjoyable than the original.
  7. The controls are tight, the graphics are great and the gameplay is diverse and filled with mini-games.
  8. Controlling Spyro hasn't improved. It’s still incredibly awkward trying to control him while gliding, as he'll go zooming off all over the place with the slightest touch.
  9. 80
The only downside to this fabulous adventure is the tricky controls. The digital directional pad doesn’t allow for smooth diagonal movement, which Spyro does a lot in each world.
  10. Sadly, there's little depth in Season of Flame.

The jumping portions of the game are still a little iffy, and I killed myself quite a lot from misreading the view, but in the end I enjoyed exploring the worlds. [Dec 2002, p.152]

The graphics are also better and more colorful, the music is still nice and fitting to the area. The gameplay is still challenging and the controls are still intuitive (as they usually are). There's a lot of challenges that are take it or leave it to continue on so you can do as much as you feel.... but the deeper you go (I'm anal and have to 100% it like a freak) the more challenging the side quests become which I like despite the fact some of the side quests are taxing and repetitive....
