Completely a reminder of the classical catch and battle monster RPG. Everything is handled with care , also the addition to get more pokemon, for the Ruby, Saphire and Emerald.

Fire red is a game that i played a lot of times, I can't tell how many and every time I really enjoy it. It's just a classic Pokemon game without any gimmics. Fire red improves on graphics, but i can't really tell if it sounds better than original, hard to tell. Also adds running shoes which is very important.

Pokemon Fire Red Version and its alternate Pokemon Leaf Green Version for Nintendo Gameboy Advanced portable gaming system are remakes of the first two Pokemon games released known as Pokemon Red Version and Pokemon Green Version (never officially english localized by Nintendo) for the Nintendo Gameboy portable gaming system. Pokemon Fire Red Version is created to resemble Pokemon YellowPokemon Fire Red Version and its alternate Pokemon Leaf Green Version for Nintendo Gameboy Advanced portable gaming system are remakes of the first two Pokemon games released known as Pokemon Red Version and Pokemon Green Version (never officially english localized by Nintendo) for the Nintendo Gameboy portable gaming system. Pokemon Fire Red Version is created to resemble Pokemon Yellow Version (without anime exclusive events and content) and Pokemon Red Version while Pokemon Leaf Green Version is designed to resemble Pokemon Green Version and Pokemon Blue Version accordingly. Both Pokemon Fire Red Version and Pokemon Leaf Green Version have different Pokemon available and need to traded to get ones exclusive to each version and you can also trade with Pokemon Emerald Version, Pokemon Ruby Version and Pokemon Sapphire Version for even more unique Pokemon. This game is also compatible with linking to Pokemon Coliseum and Pokemon XD: G.O.D for the Nintendo Gamecube Console using a GBA Controller Cable and the Pokemon Diamond Version, Pokemon Pearl Version, Pokemon Platinum Version, Pokemon Heart Gold Version and Pokemon Soul Silver Version using the GBA slot on a Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite portable gaming consoles. This game features the original game using a completely redone "Generation 3" engine which gives it new features such as the inclusion of the Special Defense stat, hold items, Eggs, Breeding, Generation 3 era TM set, berries, and more that where absent in the the original versions as well as a completely rebuilt inventory system with categories and a large capacity instead of the original game where you could carry only 20 types of items at a maximum of 99 in quantity per slot at any given time. The game glitches from the original game are completely fixed and absent from this game, especially the infamous "MissingNo." programming error which could heavily corrupt or destroy save data if handled improperly in the original games. There are new areas completely exclusive to this remake that was absent in the original games that add more play time and exploration to the game. The music in the game is identical to the original (and some of it's sequels for the newer areas) except that they are modernized versions using the GBA's audio system to the best of its ability. The visuals are nothing special but are a notable improvement from the original releases. Multiplayer consists of battling or trading via GBA link cable or the GBA wireless link if you bought the game new as it came inside the box as a free bonus. All in all, the large amount of Pokemon to collect with most exclusive to trading with another person with a different version, fun and addictive multiplayer battle modes, minigames, new areas and compatibility with Gamecube and DS released gives this game a large replay value especially if you enjoy RPGs, are a perfectionist, are a collector, are a competitive multiplayer gamer or a major fan of nostalgic games of the past. All the missions are fun, albeit the Team Rocket missions repetitive, and the Elite Four a challenge. Personally, I have played FireRed 6 times, each with a different team of Pokemon, with my most recent game over 80 hours in length. Unbelievably, I have played this single game more than any other individual game out there. For a game that you can currently get at Gamestop for only 29 dollars, its certainly worth the money. Ultimately, there's something nice about starting out with the original starter Pokemon (Squirtle, Baulbasaur, and Charmander). However, if you are bored with the old pokemon, I would recommend Pokemon Black and White. My only complaint with Firered is that some Pokemon you can only catch/evolve from previous games, most commonly LeafGreen. That being said, this is not something that i degrade the game for, and something that I personally don't enjoy. As some parting word's, a little piece of advice for starter's is to begin with Bulbasaur, the grass Pokemon that will let you get passed the first to gym battles with ease. Expand

This is a really nice game, for the most part. The one monotonous thing about this game is the abundance of trainers that you have to fight in certain areas - it gets old and takes away from the re-playability value. Still, the classic remixes, exotic/classic Pokemon, handsome graphics, and marvelous post-game make this game very enjoyable. This is a very respectable remake.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The best version of Kanto to date, and perhaps the best we`ll ever see. Very nostalgic games as they were my first Pokemon game. But aside from that fact that these are very nostalgic games for me, they do give a great experience playing through them. All of you have probably played through Kanto before, either through Red, Blue and Yellow or Let`s go, and if you liked it FireRed and LeafGreen won`t dissapoint, apart from playing an enhanced version of RBY now filled with status conditions and abilities which makes the games more fun it had additional gameplay which didn`t occur in the first versions or in Let`s go. You get to experience the Sevii islands in this game which has new areas with pokemon from other generations, breeding. trainers and also a post game scuffle with team rocket. Personally I really like the art style in the 3rd gen pokemon games, very lively and colorful sprites, very aesthetically pleasing. If you`re a Pokemon fan I`d highly recommend these games. Expand

Pokemon FireRed is perhaps a bit too faithful to the original Red and Green. The movesets of almost every opponent contains a load of subpar moves, making the game too easy -- just like the original games.

Additionally, the soundtrack is just...... not very enjoyable, compared to that of RSE. Again, maybe too faithful to the original.

    The beginning of legend...
It is also a remake of the game that first started the legendary game Pokemon, which has created countless fans.
    That's how fun it is!
One thing that's unfortunate is that the main character of Pokemon Red was cool, but he became a bit ugly because it was a remake.

I recently started playing "Poke`Mon Fire Red" again, and overall it's just how I remembered it as a kid. I was impressed by the graphics (especially with my GBA sp AGS-101) the colors are great, the interaction with the game is clean and simple, overall, very nostalgic! I personally like the battle structure they have, and how they added little things like the running shoes. The game looks pretty sweet. Everything's crisp. The music is sweet. The Pokemon are cute. I mean, it's just a sweet game. Who's looking for realism anyway? The animations are pretty good. Some of them look funny without effects, but I think they have better animations than nothing or a little shaking. I also don't need to mention how much better they are compared to the old versions. For a game on such a large scale for their platform, it has great visuals and music.

And the story of the game, well, it's a pokemon story. You have to catch them all, blah blah blah. I don't think anyone will be too interested in the pokemon story. Of course, it may have a deep lore like where these pokemons came from, but the story presented to us is that we are kicked out of our village by saying go play pokemon and go on an adventure.

The gameplay is pokemon gameplay. I personally love pokemon gameplay and I spend a lot of time with it. It has always been enjoyable for me. However, we should keep in mind that it is actually a longer version of rock paper scissors. There are not many moves in the game anyway. Some species dominate some species, and it doesn't take a genius to figure that out. You just need to have enough one-shot pokémon to win the long battle at the end. The biggest drawback of the game is that it is very slow. Maybe this is actually related to our time, but I don't think anyone can endure this game at its normal speed. Now the world is turning faster in general, but it is worth noting that it is also a waste of time. Personally, would I have played this game so much if there was no time acceleration in the emulator I played? I don't think so.

It's a very nice remaster of the first game in a sweet game series. Or a remake? It doesn't matter what it is, but this game is sweet.

My favorite Pokémon game, marked my childhood by taking hours and hours in saves and more saves. The history and nostalgic generation brings more and more desire to play even over the years. And of course, I can't forget to mention that CHARMANDER is the best starter.

FireRed and LeafGreen are amazing games - the best thing is that they are perfectly compatible for trading with ruby, sapphire and emerald games. A lot of nostalgia is in these games because it’s the first Pokémon region that has been ever made - Kanto and you choose as starters either Charmander, Squirtle or Bulbasaur.

Would actually give it a 7.6. This was my first Pokemon Game I've ever played. Because I've never played Pokemon in my childhood or had any other connections with it, but I was and am still a huge Nintendo Fan(also my brother was always a huge pokemon fan, but I've never understood his fascination for the franchise), I wanted to play a Pokemon game, in order to get an opinion about theWould actually give it a 7.6. This was my first Pokemon Game I've ever played. Because I've never played Pokemon in my childhood or had any other connections with it, but I was and am still a huge Nintendo Fan(also my brother was always a huge pokemon fan, but I've never understood his fascination for the franchise), I wanted to play a Pokemon game, in order to get an opinion about the series, I've now actually played the remake of the first generation, in case I would maybe love this game and become a pokemon fan, I've played the first gen, so I could play them in the correct order. In this case Heartgold/Soulsiver would be the next, gen I'm going to play.
This was not really the case, but I've truly learned many things about the franchise, especially the games. And what I have to point out, is that I've completed the Kanto-Pokedex. Well, I've played the game on an emulator, so I had to cheat evolutions like Gengar who are only available with the usage of trades which is not really possible on an emulator. But all the Pokemon that were possible for my to catch, I really catched. I also visited all routes as well as defeated the Top 4 both times for sure.
So with that knowledge of the game, I think (as a non-pokemon fan), I can have a good objective opinion to that game that is not influenced by nostalgia or other things.
But what did I like and what did I dislike?
First I think, I should talk about the battle system. Before I've played the game, I always thought that the combat system of the Pokemon series is very boring and retarded, because when compared to the Mario RPGs for example which I really like because of the quicktime events.
In a paper Mario 2 for example, you can beat every fight at a low level if you're very good, because you parry/counter all attacks.
And the combat system of pokemon looks quite boring and not quite varied, because it is not possible to play that game without taking damage with the help of skill.
But after a few hours of playing I realized: The intention of the combat system wasn't a big variety. In Pokemon it's intended that you have to train your pokemon just like in the anime. A Pokemon at level 4 has no chance against a pokemon at level 40.
Also you have to chose the pokemon you send your battle, because of the pokemon-types. A water-pokemon for example has not really the chance to beat an Elektro-pokemon at the same level.
Third, the limited usage of each attack plays a major role with making the combat system. Strong attacks can't be used very often and weak attacks can be used more often. This makes the combat system more tactical.
So this is what I learned and what I want people to know.
Next, I really had fun with the game. Always in school I was looking forward to playing this game. Sure, this didn't last long, but the first hours of playing were great fun!
To conclude, it's just a great game. I definitely am going to play Heartgold/Soulsilver in about a year. This franchise is not as boring as I thought.

Pokémon is a funky series, and by funky I mean half of it is great and half of it is Sun and Moon. I'm currently playing through Legends Arceus and loving it, but I can't review yet because I'm still only at the third area so I figured I'd take it back a bit and review the first Pokémon game I ever finished.

FireRed is, as you've likely guessed unless you're a Sun and Moon fan, is a remake of Pokémon Red, the first game in the franchise remade with Gen 3 sensibilities. It's pretty good, it follows the basic story of Red: You are red, Blue, or Gary if you grew up with the anime, we'll just call him "Bluary" is mean, make cute animals fight to be the best and make Bluary mad. Simple. What makes FR and Pokémon as a whole special, is the adventure you create yourself. Which Pokémon you catch, what you name them, and the moments you have with them. Stuff like your Staraptor landing a critical hit against your opponents last Pokémon and winning by a hair. Staraptor is not in this game by the way, I just really like Staraptor.

FireRed is absolutely the purest version you can get of the base Pokémon formula while still being a good game, because the GBC games are uh... kinda f*cked. I really don't have a whole lot more to say about FireRed other than it's attempts to add new features like the Islands... and the less said about the islands the better.

Honestly FireRed is really good, it's nice wholesome child endangering, cockfighting, gambling fun and even though it's far from my favourite Pokémon game, it will always hold a special place in my heart for being the first one I really got into.

Man f*ck Sun and Moon amirite?

I know a lot of people harbor a lot of nostalgia for this region, Red for the Game Boy was also my first Pokémon game. But this game is just pretty flawed, the story is serviceable, but the real problems begin to arise when you consider the Pokémon available and the lack of post game.

The Pokémon you can collect are already pretty sparse, and I feel this is compounded by there being very clear "best in slot" Pokémon for certain types. This is something I really have only ever felt in the first generation, and while more options open up to you once you beat the game, since there is nearly no post game, there's not much reason to search them out once since you are already past the meat of the game's content.

Kanto served as a great foundation when the franchise first started, and probably slotted in nicely during the GBA era but now just feels kinda hollow compared to the other Pokémon games I've been playing. I've played this game enough times to shake off the dust of nostalgia and I did not like what I saw underneath.

All of that being said, I still think if you are a Pokémon fan it is worth playing through Kanto at least one time to see how far the franchise has come. While it may be at it's simplest here, it is still a serviceable Pokémon game.

Idk how people defend these games that could have fixed SO many of the game’s issues but instead decided the only change worth making was the waste of time known as the Sevii Islands. Kanto already had a terrible variety of mons, making you still encounter pidgeys when you were 6 badges in while locking most of the actual interesting ones behind the safari zone or hard-to-reach dungeon floors. And this isn’t just because they only had 151 to work with. Black and white had about the same number, and they were constantly giving you new and interesting pokemon to catch in every location. Kanto is just a boring region with a boring early game, no story, no interesting characters, nothing that makes you wanna explore, and a lategame that feels unfinished. How did they already make a good game in Ruby & Sapphire and then fail to fix the glaring mistakes that made gen 1 such a slog to get through? This game isn’t worth your time, go replay gen 5. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fire Red and Leaf Green are remakes of the very first games in Red, Blue, Green, and they improve on it significantly but oddly do not add as much as they could into it.

While they are certainly better than Ruby and Sapphire, the lack of a Battle Frontier makes it grind to complete halt once beaten. However, the grind to a halt is probably the most gradual of any Pokemon game I have played. Once you beat the Champion for the first time, you are assigned a new task of rescuing the Ruby and Sapphire after getting the National Pokedex upgrade. After your mission is complete, the Cerulean Cave opens up with Mewtwo once again in it, and there finally grinds to a complete halt.

While Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow ground to a complete halt after being beaten, it was forgivable when they literally started everything and were still working out the kinks back then. It is not forgivable in Fire Red and Leaf Green given how much more power was at their disposal and the higher expectations and standards here.
