  1. Much of Munch's goodness has been taken and converted to fit the Game Boy Advance.
  2. If any more Oddworld games are brought to the GBA, I really hope that they go back to the side-scrolling format. In fact, a direct port of the original Oddworld for Playstaion wouldn't be a bad idea, and would have surely come out better than this game did.

Though the seamless integration of action, puzzles and even a tad of platforming is pulled off well, the package it's presented in is rather unappealing. [Nov 2003, p.101]
  4. While there were moments in the game that I really enjoyed, the areas of frustration and touchy controls made the full game less than enjoyable.
  5. This edition is uninspired, taking all the good parts of Munch's Oddysee away and leaving the rest of the package to fend for itself.
  6. More tiresome than it is challenging and fun.
  7. Regardless of the poor graphics and problematic controls, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee for the Game Boy Advance could have been a great game for fans of the series if it had anywhere near the same amount of charm or cleverness as the console Oddworld games.
  8. Later levels tend to get merely more irritating rather than more enjoyable, and the many fans of the Oddworld series would have been better served with handheld versions of "Abe's Oddysee" and "Abe's Exoddus," rather than this frankly overpriced, lame effort.

The developers should have just stuck with the tried-and-true 2D "Prince of Persia"-style of the previous Oddworld games for this conversion. Munch's Oddysee is full of little quirks that add up to a very un-fun GBA game that can't even fall back on technical merits.

This tedious handheld port will do nothing to revive the franchise's ailing reputation. [Nov 2003, p.178]
  11. Nintendo Power

Poor hit detection and sluggish controls make the game's challenges more frustrating than fun. [Dec 2003, p.150]

A throwaway title, and an afternoon of modest fun that kids will get the most out of, since they'll be least put off by the abbreviated levels and most challenged by the puzzles.

The game is also short. It shouldn't take you more than a day to complete the 13 levels. Though after tediously walking through gray room after gray room it could feel more like a year.
  14. Cheat Code Central

Faced with the removal of all the great production this GBA version highlights the game's weakest aspect - the gameplay. It's like seeing Madonna without her makeup.
  15. Opening doors by collecting plants and telling other creatures to perform simple tasks through inconvenient button combinations just isn’t that fun.

Bad graphics, incomprehensible sound, make this a bad transition from the Xbox game. May have to trade this one in for something more fun.

Es incomprensible que no apostaran por el formato clásico de PS1 con vista lateral, que podria haber sido perfecto para gba. Si eres muy fan te lo pasarás pero desde luego no es un gran juego.
