Visually, the game is amazingly detailed and incredibly animated; in terms of level design and obstacle placement, it is superb. [Oct 2003, p.71]

It's very demanding and frequently frustrating, but it's a lot of fun (more fun than the original, for sure) for those who have what it takes. The game also rewards the elite more than any other game of its type.
  3. 90
It doesn't play with the formula too much, which is both a good thing and a bad thing.
  4. The chain-rod, (though not perfect) as well as the other new features add just enough to keep the formula from getting stale. The fast and exciting gameplay will keep you on your toes and immersed in the game.
  5. If you're a Mega Man fan, Zero 2 shouldn't disappoint, just remember that it's still just as difficult as it ever was.

Although MMZ2 fails to deliver anything substantially new (sorry, Phil, powering up a blaster isn't exactly innovation), at least it serves up a solid action romp. [Nov 2003, p.201]

As far as a sequel goes, Zero 2 contains the absolute least amount of improvements for me to consider it a good sequel. It's not great, and I'm sure Capcom knows that. There's nothing here that would cause anyone to believe this game was innovative.

What Mega Man Zero 2 lacks in newer elements it makes up for in endless and fast-paced beat-em-up fun. However, the difficulty might discourage someone who hasn't played MMZ or someone who just doesn't play well. The game is naturally insane. But if you have what it takes, shoot. It's a game to be proud of. Expand

The music and graphics are top notch, the game has fantastic presentation, and really great and inovative level design. The game is very difficult, but its that good difficulty which makes you wanna come back for more, and keep fighting and fighting until you beat it. The best in the megaman zero series, and one of my personal favorite GBA games, of all time. Expand

I like how the game is a direct sequel to the first. It this game is cheap. Not hard, but cheap.

It uses its very limited field of vision to spawn enemies off screen(like the train level) to frequently diminish your health with little to no reaction time. It’s the same formula, same game as the first, but even more difficult in the cheapest way possible.

I want to love Zero’s games but compared to the X series these games are garbage by comparison.
