If you like Megaman, RPGs, Action, or Adventure games in the slightest, I highly recommend it.
-
There's a lot more gameplay in MMBN than in most GBA games combined. Strategy/RPG fans will surely love it, and I think most other gamers will, too.
-
Though its not the classic Mega Man we all know and love, it is a very good design with very little to dislike...other than the fact that this isn't a "true" Mega Man game.
-
All in all, combat is very easy to learn, but difficult to master -- and yet very satisfying.
-
If there's something that might hold you back from enjoying the game, it's the lighthearted and somewhat goofy story. However, the game doesn't take itself too seriously, so neither should you.
-
Although the game features a lot of action sequences, its really an RPG at heart. However, what makes this game unique is the battle system. It combines a turn based fighting system with a real time one. Did that make sense to anyone?
-
While the gameplay of Mega Man Battle Network is excellent, what fascinated me most was the world in which the game took place.
-
This radical departure adds a level of depth to the series as a whole - MM fans should pick it up out of loyalty - anyone who's not a hardcore fan should let this one settle back into the big blue.
-
Where Mega Man Battle Network fails is that it can too often venture into the realms of monotony with a relatively unexciting setting that may be a bit too ingrained by Pokemon culture to stand out.
-
Electronic Gaming MonthlyAs much as I like the action-oriented battle system, random enemy encounters are far too frequent. [Feb 2002, p.172]
