Final Fantasy VI Advance not only set the bar for RPG's in the 16-bit era, it sets a standard that few games reach in the modern era of gaming. This game won't win any beauty pageants, but easily makes up with any shortcomings with story and customizations.
-
If video game history were ever to be taught to children, then Final Fantasy VI should be part of the curriculum's required playing. Its characters are among the genre's most unique and memorable, while its villain is quite possibly the most well-crafted embodiment of evil in RPG history.
-
The game itself is timeless. It's not so old that people are turned off by the primitive graphics and it has an engaging enough battle system that those new to turn based RPGs won't get bored. It still has the same fun factor as the SNES game, but now you can take it anywhere you want, so what more can I say?
-
This game alone should extend the life of the system for a while longer.
-
Nintendo PowerFINAL FANTASY VI Advance is as close to a perfect RPG as you're going to find on any system. [Mar. 2007, p.87]
-
netjakFinal Fantasy VI Advance immediately joins the short list of best games available for any portable system. Unparalleled graphics and epic music draw you into the world, and well-developed characters and a sweeping plot keep you interested from start to finish.
-
Having one of the greatest RPGs ever made in your pocket is simply too awesome not to recommend.
-
Official Nintendo Magazine UKIt's the sheer scope of the gameplay that sets this apart from other pretenders. [July 2007, p.91]
-
Assuredly, a great majority of RPGers have already beaten Final Fantasy VI multiple times, and while this game is pretty much a direct port, I still recommend it highly just for sweet nostalgia's sake.
-
Pelit (Finland)Save the mage girl, save the world. With the exception of the too-frequent random battles, Final Fantasy VI is all good. [Aug 2007]
-
A well-made game that's better than most RPGs that we've seen released these past few years, and all of the new additions in this version only help make it even more awesome.
-
In 1994 the fresh gameplay ideas Final Fantasy 6 brought to the RPG genre, coupled with the highly enjoyable story, brilliant ensemble cast and stirring score would have made the game an easy, trailblazing Eurogamer 10. It's either a remarkable testament to the original development team's vision and skill, or a damning indictment of a genre that this is so very nearly the case thirteen years on.
-
The best of the three GBA re-issues, Final Fantasy VI Advance is a timeless dollop of role-playing adventure gaming.
-
What matters above all else, though, is that even in 2007, FF6 is exceptional fun. Even with its dated visuals and familiar concepts, it's one of the greatest games the world has ever seen, and it's just as entertaining now as it was during Clinton's first term.
-
Besides the sound quality issues, players have little reason to choose the original cart over this GBA port. Everything that made Final Fantasy VI great on the SNES is here, and then some.
-
Final Fantasy VI is one of the best RPGs ever made, and this version doesn't sacrifice any of its inherent awesomeness. From the huge cast of characters and their special moves to the memorable scenes like the opera house event, it is all intact and as good as you remember.
-
Final Fantasy VI Advance is the last Game Boy Advance game from Square-Enix and Nintendo, but this classic game is a great way to say goodbye to a system.
-
FFVIA is a mostly great port of a mostly great game, and that makes it entirely worth having. If this has to be the end of the GBA's lifespan, we can't think of a better way to go.
-
The game that changed a series, and this GBA remake is near perfect. We went close to giving it a higher score, but if you like RPGs at all you really should buy this game.
-
Final Fantasy VI Advance is a great port of an excellent role-playing game, and it's one that shouldn't be missed.
-
With its refined mastering of the English language, VI Advance is an even better example of how a brilliant story can immerse you in any game, no matter how small in stature the characters are.
-
Final Fantasy VI Advance may not offer as much as previous re-releases of FF titles in terms of extras but, it's still a classic to play through. [JPN Import]
-
Nintendo GamerOne of the last GBA games is also one of the best - it's the only GBA game you'll need in 2007. [Apr 2007, p.58]
-
With a wide cast of enjoyable characters, a surprisingly interesting plot, and an enjoyable battle system, Final Fantasy VI is the perfect title to bid adieu to the tiny system which has given us years of enjoyment.
-
One of the Game Boy Advance's last role-playing games, Final Fantasy VI Advance also proves one of its best.
