I understand the need to simplify things for use on the GBA, but even the fact that all the spells use the same art seems a bit disappointing. With that said, though, the graphics do what they should - carry the solid gameplay through.
-
Luckily there is a detailed tutorial at the beginning of story mode that eases players into the battle system which is a feature that many of the Yu-Gi-Oh! games lack.
-
I liked this card-battle game more than other ones that I have sat down and played. There was a better story, which game you more to do, and it seemed to make the duels more fun as well since I knew that there was a reason behind me doing it.
-
Despite it's aesthetic weaknesses, Sempai Legends is a good trading-card game and definitely a match for its competitors.
-
The learning curve is a little steep and not everyone may enjoy losing dozens of battles before they finally get the hang of it. However, it should be noted that with 120 cards from the original card game as well as 60 cards from the expansion pack, Atari is extremely faithful to the source material.

Pocket GamesIf you're a fan of the trading card game, you should find this enjoyable enough for practice or when no opponents are around. [Summer 2004, p.28]

AceGamezThe entire package is just out there riding the coat tales of the involving Yu-Gi-Oh games, or the incredibly diverse and playable Pokemon titles. As such, I urge every hard working parent to opt for one of those for their kids instead.
