If you know your laser flips from your rocket airs and don’t mind enduring a little hand cramp while you train your brain to skate and draw at the same time, then Skate It on the DS packs an impressive simulation of skateboarding.
-
Skate It for Nintendo DS offers a fresh and successful take on skating controls. The story mode is not so deeply but the multiplayer mode has a lengthy list of features. The realistic skating action comes to the NDS.

Games Master UKLess accessible and trickier to control, but it offers similar satisfaction to the console Skates. [Feb 2009, p.82]
-
Your enjoyment of Skate It on DS will largely be determined by your enjoyment of skateboarding in general. The controls are fiendishly difficult but, if you're into the sport, they're rewarding to master.
-
Although it has a few rough edges, Skate It nevertheless ollies over the competition and triumphantly kick-flips its way to the top of the DS skateboarding pile.
-
Once again, EA has managed to innovate in a genre that had grown stale and tedious. With its numerous graphical glitches, control issues, and overall lack of polish, it’s obvious that Skate It is a first effort. Still, pulling off big tricks (and even small ones) can be very satisfying, and there’s a real feeling that this is a series that will benefit greatly from further iteration.
-
Solid controls, multiplayer options, and creation tools stand out, though some jagged textures and their frustrating side effects hamper an otherwise solid execution.
-
Nintendo PowerYou spend more time keeping a grip on the handheld than dealing with the game's challenges. [Jan 2009, p.90]
