    Using the stylus to perform different tricks is surprisingly intuitive, more so than having to remember a few dozen button combinations. Unfortunately, the DS version of Skate It suffers from poor stroke recognition, so while it's easy to pull off tricks, it's difficult to pull off the trick you want. Add to that muddy graphics that make it hard to discern the environment ("IsUsing the stylus to perform different tricks is surprisingly intuitive, more so than having to remember a few dozen button combinations. Unfortunately, the DS version of Skate It suffers from poor stroke recognition, so while it's easy to pull off tricks, it's difficult to pull off the trick you want. Add to that muddy graphics that make it hard to discern the environment ("Is that a shadow or curb? Oops, my skater just fell over, so I guess it was a curb."), occasional framerate slowdown, and some nasty pop-in and you have a game that's hard to recommend.… Expand

    Skate It turned out really well on the Nintendo DS, and offers the same challenge and sense of satisfaction that the design did on the consoles. It also has an enormous amount of features to bulk up its list of things to do.

    Your enjoyment of Skate It on DS will largely be determined by your enjoyment of skateboarding in general. The controls are fiendishly difficult but, if you're into the sport, they're rewarding to master.
