All of this wonderful single player and multiplayer comes polished in an aforementioned pastel graphical environment at which you can't help but smile.
-
For players who are in the market for a good single player and multiplayer game that is easy to pick up and play, this game is ideal.
-
The gameplay is what makes Puyo Pop Fever a brilliant design. It's a timeless design that works well in a handheld environment, and it's immensely addictive when you discover the mechanics that can wipe out a chunk of the filled bin in a single shot.
-
It's got several challenges, three endless modes, and more speed than any Puyo Pop game before it.
-
The main single player does have a weak story line, but the multiplayer is a total riot.
-
This is one of the best games out on the DS right now, and the definitive version of the Puyo series to reach the states, though the Japan-only Puyo Puyo Party for Dreamcast still holds the title of best Puyo period.
-
Its simple controls and manic gameplay make the game stand out in a genre already filled with mediocrity. If you can get past the irritating voiceovers, you'll find an entertaining experience you can't wait to share with your friends.
-
Cheat Code CentralPuyo Pop Fever has lots of surprises and packs a lot of features - all of them useful. It's a really good version that makes good use of the dual screen, touch screen and wireless network.
-
"Best DS Game" seems a little weak, given the competition, so let me just say this: This much fun (plus multiplayer!) for $29.99 seems like highway robbery perpetrated against Atlus.
-
It may feel somewhat familiar if you've played past incarnations of the series, but the multiplayer gaming and the innovative touch screen controls make it much more than a simple port.
-
An extremely fun and addicting puzzle game, which is just as fun as or more so than any previous version of the series.
-
This is undoubtedly the best Puyo title yet, giving you both old-school gameplay and new, along with well-rounded multiplayer and challenging difficulty.
-
Unique, quirky, but completely lovable; Puyo Pop Fever is a timeless puzzle game thats immensely fun to play. Classic stuff.
-
If you can tolerate the forcibly cute presentation, you'll find Puyo Pop Fever to be a solid, addictive puzzle game.
-
The trouble is it’s not especially outstanding either, and lacks the hook enjoyed by the likes of the Tetris or Bust-a-Move games.
-
The single player experience is good enough to practice on before you go into battle with your friends, but the battle itself is where the action is at.
-
While the core gameplay is fundamentally the same, Puyo Pop Fever just didn’t grab me like "Puyo Pop" on the GBA did. It’s still a good game, but there are a few other puzzlers on the DS that I think are worth your time over this one.
-
games(TM)A videogame that, although still pleasant and enjoyable to play, feels more than a little stale and wholly regurgitated. [June 2006, p.123]
-
NGC Magazine UKNeat and enjoyable, but surpassed by flashier, more compelling puzzlers. Feels like a launch game because it was. [June 2006, p.39]
-
AceGamezAt heart, Puyo Pop Fever is an entertaining and downright addictive little puzzler, and therefore gets the stamp of approval for those after something refreshingly light-hearted.
-
Nintendo PowerThe touch screen gestures are an intriguing concept, but the traditional Control Pad and button controls still work better. [July 2005, p.99]
-
Despite its reputation as a Japanese classic, the real puzzle about Puyo Pop Fever is who needs it on DS?
