A successful combination of many styles of play, with a healthy dollop of British humour mixed in for good effect, it's definitely one to consider for fans of exploring and Overlord.
-
A game for puzzle fans who have a high tolerance for frustrating design. It's a great game that sometimes fights with players due to its loose and sometimes confused stylus control, but the game's fun-factor and satisfying puzzling gameplay overrides the annoyances to create a pretty good little portable title.
-
Nintendo PowerThere are deeper DS games than this, but not many that make it so much fun to be the bad guy. [Aug 2009, p.91]
-
Overlord Minions for the DS has all the right ingredients that make up an instant puzzle/strategy game classic but its problems hold it back considerably. Had the touch-screen controls actually worked better, this would have been a real Must Have DS game worth the money.
-
It’s hard to recommend Overlord: Minions in its current state. The frustration factor is too high, thanks in part to the broken controls. Those with a high patience level will find a few great ideas here, but unfortunately, the majority will likely be unable to make it that far.
-
Official Nintendo Magazine UKAn interesting premise let down in execution, lacking the excitement of a true fantasy epic. [Aug 2009, p.96]
-
The evil twin to Zelda: Phantom Hourglass shows just how bad broken touch-screen controls can be.
