The difficulty level is there providing a challenge, the game is fun, however as with all sport games such as this, it can be difficult to control unless you’re sitting down at a table. Don’t let that stop you from trying it out though – New International Track & Field is the next best thing to being at the Beijing games.
-
Easily, the best remake of the classic franchise. Each player will definitely find his own most and least favorite events in the pack but I have to be honest – there’s not a dud event in the pack.
-
Sumo Digital’s take on the athletics genre is a rare gem on the handheld’s current stark landscape, at its heart an unashamedly old school experience that also manages to successfully revive the spirit of Konami’s once great series.
-
Official Nintendo Magazine UKIt's not quite as well-rounded as "Mario & Sonic" but still offers some great gameplay. [July 2008, p.96]
-
Although it's missing the official licence, it's incredibly addictive and packed full with unlockables.
-
Gorgeous presentation and an astonishingly complete online element help New International Track and Field overcome its relatively minor issues and ascend very close to the top step of the podium.
-
It is weakness in the basic concept of the franchise, and some excessively similar events, which prevent this from climbing any higher in our scoring system - but as an execution of an admittedly simple concept, this is genuinely brilliant.
-
Nintendo PowerUnlockables (such as special events featuring established Konami characters) will keep you slicing and tapping well into the coverage of the Summer Olympics. [Sept 2008, p.87]
-
It not only has the variety that Olympic fans are looking for, but, more importantly, it also has the fun.
-
New international Track and Field for the Nintendo DS is clearly one of the most complete DS titles to come in a long time.
-
AceGamezOverall the atmosphere here is electric with a great looking and sounding game that plays well for the most part, though some events can be frustrating but ultimately beatable.
-
It may not have an official Olympics license, but it truly makes you feel like you are a part of something special.
-
Sumo Digital found the magic that made this series memorable after all these years.
-
Games Master UKAn oldie but a goody, updated wiht some quirky additions to keep it fresh. [Aug 2008, p.82]
-
If you have some Olympic fever left over and don’t feel like shelling out for a certain Olympic game featuring two very popular gaming mascots, then New International Track and Field may be worth diving into.
