  1. The Superhero Squad is a nice game for the midday break, even if the story is not the best. Please do not play it too long or you are at risk to get annoyed.
  2. As it is, this game is still a good fit for preteens, although the extremely low difficulty level, even on Hard, might not appeal to players looking for the next Marvel Vs. Capcom.

Super Hero Squad on DS isn’t a great game by any stretch of the imagination. The load issues and amateurish presentation will try your patience, the game has a quirky 2D art style that pokes its head in during loads and “story” sequences, and the overall single player experience is as generic and repetitious as possible. At the same time, there’s something in this game that proves Halfbrick has some serious talent.
  4. Marvel Super Hero Squad can only be recommended for young gamers who enjoy their superheroes and would do better with a simple game.

This video game just stinks! It's absolutely horrendous! I can't believe my parents wasted their money to get me this game (I don't blameThis video game just stinks! It's absolutely horrendous! I can't believe my parents wasted their money to get me this game (I don't blame them personally because I'm the one who played it). The game play is just terrible! It looks just like Super Smash Bros. Brawl, only a cruddy version of it. The control of this game makes it seem like it was designed by an alien with multiple hands, whereas the control of Smash Bros. is what made it so much fun to me. This turned Marvel Super Hero Squad into a cruddy knockoff of an amazing game. The story of this game is exactly the same as the TV show it's based off of. The story is that Dr. Doom shattered an artifact of great power during a battle with Iron Man called the Infinity Sword. Now the heroes, and the villains are working to gather all the fragments of it in order to recreate it. The story may be a lot like the show, however, there is little to no humor in it whatsoever. I wouldn't mind so much, except that the show has loads of humorous moments. The thing that really kills this game is the graphics. The graphics are much like the Virtual Boy. They aren't black and red, but they can actually cause headaches like the Virtual Boy. Yes, I'm dead serious. It's happened to me. After experiencing a headache, I turned off the game, and played Super Mario 64 DS instead. This was because I knew that there would be no way I could ever get a headache from that game. As for Super Hero Squad, this game is just terrible. It's not even worth a rent. If you're thinking about getting this game for your kid, don't even bother. There are so many much better games you can get than this. You should get Super Smash Bros. Brawl instead. For a teen rated game, it's actually quite tame, and it might actually be suitable for children. You can get them whatever you want, but just stay away from this hunk of crud. Full Review »
