While the first game offered a frustrating gaming experience that frankly defeated many gamers, DII has solved all of the previous reasons for criticism, providing a true horror gaming experience unmarred by mechanical flubs.
-
The game is still a first-rate effort, despite its middling problems. Anyone who enjoyed Southpeak's previous effort, Moon, will also dig this game. Just follow those PROTIPS that I've scattered throughout the review, and your first playthrough will be as enjoyable as my second one.

Official Nintendo Magazine UKWeapons are more numerous and better balanced this time. [May 2010, p.82]

The horror shooter and Nintendo DS mix is really amazing. You'll get a great shooter with nice graphics, a stunning atmosphere and a lot of action.
-
Not much freedom, and a lasting appeal that leaves much to be desired, but else, a notable FPS, smooth, brilliantly programmed and unique in its genre in the gigantic DS software library.
-
It definitely fuels the craving for more first-person action games on the Nintendo DS, and at the very least Renegade Kid continues to show how capable the team is with the handheld hardware.
-
Nintendo PowerEven scarier and more action-packed than the first. [June 2010, p.88]
-
This gory and gruesome shooter improves upon its predecessor in almost every way.
-
While the game does a great job of scaring the poo out of you, control issues and blocky graphics keep Dementium 2 from being elite. Horror fans will enjoy it, and FPS fans will like what they see.
-
Renegade Kid proves to be a developer faithful to Nintendo DS and that is in the right way, maintaining what is good and fixing the errors. This a game of the type that deserves to be appreciated in the silent night.
-
Nintendo GamerYou won't find a better looking DS shooter and it's engaging while it lasts, though your hands and eyes will hate you for playing extended sessions. [May 2010, p.57]

Though the first Dementium was a decent survival horror, it suffered from a series of flaws that made the experience perhaps a bit too naive: poor plot, poor atmosphere, bad-designed monsters. This sequel solves almost all problems, delivering the same nice graphics at 60 fps, a nice artistic direction and very well-done enemies.
-
Dementium II does a beautiful job improving on it's predecessor. It maintains the creepy atmosphere, the level of maturity, and the originality of the first game. However, the title is still plagued by a vague plot and annoying enemies.
-
Dementium II is the best FPS game I've played on the DS to date, eliminating many of the interface problems that have plagued previous attempts at bringing the genre to Nintendo's handheld. It's not the most original of games, and as in fact quite formulaic both in terms of its mechanics and its horror premise, but it's good at what it does regardless.
-
Folks looking for a different, decidedly mature experience in handheld gaming will find that Dementium II is just what the doctor ordered.
