    While The ABC Murders does not possess the depth of plot or crisp dialogue of the full-length Christie mysteries published by The Adventure Company (Murder on the Orient Express, Evil Under the Sun, And Then There Were None), it is an impressive opening salvo in what one hopes will be an ongoing series of games on the DS.

    Due to the source material, the plot is engaging enough to keep drawing you in just to see if you can crack it. It’s just a disappointment that so many elements required to make it a truly must-have game are missing – the lack of hints, penalties and slow dialogue sections limit this one to fans of Poirot, Agatha Christie and murder investigation games in general.

    To be completely fair to The ABC Murders, I took it home and spent an evening with the fiancé working through it. Her opinion: it's good, true to the novel and the TV show, but not as engaging as Professor Layton.

    ABC Murders is a great story, but it wasn’t meant to be a video game and it shows. DS-owning Agatha Christie fans might get a kick out of it, but the game just isn’t as engaging or fun as the other point-and-click puzzlers on the system.

    Agatha Christie was obviously a masterful author, and The A.B.C. Murders could have been an engaging interactive companion to one of her most famous works. It's too bad the gameplay is so atrocious that even a good story couldn't make up for it.

The idea of a detective game using the two displays of the Nintendo DS sounded very promising. Especially as a Christie and Poirot fan. Unfortunately I was very disappointed when it came out.
