Without the huge cast of characters in the game that makes you think: "Hey! It's this character!", you are left with a game that forces you to backtrack into old places(which wouldn't be entirely bad if you could just skip some 'gateway' levels) and bad platforming in the sense that I had to estimate where moving platforms had gone without being able to see them. The story is funny though, and carries the whole thing.

TL;DR: Without the Adventure Time label, it sucks.

For a game that came out nearly 2 years into the 3DS' life on the original DS, Adventure Time underdelivers. It seems to be more like a port of a free flash game that may I say again would/should be free on Cartoon Network's website. The gameplay is extraordinarily basic. I would reckon the game lasts about 6-8 hours total of basic platforming mixed with hack and slash elements. I would reckon the game lasts about 6-8 hours total of basic platforming mixed with hack and slash elements. There is no sense of danger due to how plentiful powerups, and life replenishers are within the game as well as savepoints. The graphics are something that belong on the GBA not the DS. Especially 8 years after release. The quality of the music is poor and repetitive. In the few hours I played I ran into numerous glitches that made simple platforming sections a pain. I can see how a fan of the show may like this, but it should really be a free browser game. Not a paid DS game. Expand

If you're a fan of the show this game is an absolute must-buy and not to be missed. However, if you're a newcomer to the series you may want to steer clear of these lumps, or else you're in for a confusing, but absolutely algebraic, ride.
