With near-perfect control, a great new hip-hop soundtrack, several new characters that weren't in "Double Impact" (including perennial favorite Chun Li) and the best 2D animation we've ever seen in a fighting game, this game is certainly the business.
  2. Play it loud, on a big-assed TV, until you've mastered every character, your girlfriend's left you and the bank has repossessed the goldfish.
  3. Even trivial things like the special effects for the Super Art have been changed, and like the new character voices, it's a small touch that goes a very long way towards making an attractive, complete package worth buying.
  4. Although it doesn't have the insane special moves or high character count of "Marvel vs Capcom 2," it does offer a tight gameplay engine for skilled fighters, and wonderfully smooth graphics to complete the package.
  5. This is one beautiful title to look at, despite the rather lackluster character designs.

All anyone really needs to know however is that 3rd Strike looks great, plays great, sounds great and is the definitive version of the SFIII series.

Really meant for diehard fans of the series only. The rest of us can probably do without this one.

Truly an engaging fighter, that is easily worthy of just about anyone's private collection... that is unless you already have "Double Impact."
  9. CNET Gamecenter

While weaker in the graphics department than its predecessor, this game still delivers punch.
  10. With "Third Impact", the Cadillac model has been given new features (System Direction, five new characters, 'Grade Judge System', etc.) but has suffered a slight alteration to its flawless body (the washed-out colors and backgrounds on SOME of the stages).

It's virtually identical to the previously released "Street Fighter III: Double Impact!"
  12. If you're just looking for some general fun with Street Fighter, try Alpha 3 or Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
  13. 3rd Strike delivers new characters and enough new options to make it a worthwhile product, even if you already own "Double Impact."
  14. All in all, this is another fine addition to the genre, but how many can one gamer take?
  15. Third Strike comes out marginally better than the previous "Street Fighter III Double Impact" only because of the additional characters, but viewed as a whole is still lacking inspiration and ingenuity.

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. ugly characters, weird animation, questionable game mechanics. this game was a TTTURD when it came out and it still is. The cast is just not very appealing and the animation is just sloppy. The music is that generic weird funk capcom started slapping into their games around this time. Just forgettable and leaves the player indifferent. Nothing anthemic or memorable like in Sf2. The much lauded parry mechanic shuts down the fun part of the game and between two skilled players it devolves into a boring back and forth shuffling poke fest. The boss is the most uncreative POS this side of boss characters. Dont let the fight game nerds fool you into thinking this is the greatest fighting game ever. More likely its the one of the most boring. There's a reason it took so long for SF to get a sequel after this steamer and Capcom has wisely abanodoned parrying as the core mechanic. Full Review »
