    Not only my favorite Sonic game but also has my favorite video game soundtrack of all time. Metal Harbor, Green Forest, and Live and Learn all incredible.

    The best sonic game ever created in my opinion. It is what every sonic should have been but wasn't. If i would give it a actual score it would be 9.8 and it is because i really don't like the level songs with lyrics they are really cheesy and stupid. But anything else is great, literally i don't have anything else to complain about the game

    Oh boy. This game is the exact reason i am such a huge Sonic fan to this day. Everything i love about Sonic the Hedgehog is here. The amazing rock and variety in it's music, the ambitious story, the fast level design, and the fast and fun gameplay. Sonic and shadow are the best obviously. I love the focus on fast pace level design. The other playstyles do have some flawed levels, but stillOh boy. This game is the exact reason i am such a huge Sonic fan to this day.     Sonic Adventure 2 is a blast from start to finish. It still has what I believe is the most (non repetitive) content in a Sonic Game to date. The story is fantastic and the levels always feel like they serve the story, and not the other way around. I wish they toned down the Tails/Eggman levels, but that’s really the only major issue I have. There is a level of jank in movement, especiallySonic Adventure 2 is a blast from start to finish.     Everything about this game is amazing: the story, the gameplay, the music. It's not perfect, but it's great. And this was Shadow the hedgehogs debute game.
    This is also home to one of the most iconic stages in sonic history: City Escape.

    this is the best sonic game i have played the only problems are the camera and the tails and egg-man levers with death pits and the fact that if you still have rings you can still die and the final story were if you get a game over you have to do every thing over but it is still the best.

    Sonic Adventure 2 is a great addition to the Adventure series with it's top tier soundtrack and story still being great to this day. Some aspects show it's age and the gameplay has it's weaker points making it not as SA1. But it's still a great title that with enough playtime can get most sonic fans and gamers to enjoy themselves.

    The chao garden is super relaxing and cute. I never really got super into it, but if they put it in a future game, then i might revisit it more

    Amazing game, although age has not treated it well, it holds up great! The sonic stages are absolutely the best in the series and knuckles stages are almost like little open worlds you can explore! The mech stages have aged the worse in my opinion, they can be slow and annoying sometimes. The characters are loveable, the soundtrack is amazing, the levels are unique and interesting, and the gameplay feels action packed and unique for each character. The sonic and shadow levels are great and fun to play, and the treasure hunter levels are mid to me. But overall this game still deserves a 10.… Expand

    I played this game for the first time because i heard that it is the best 3d sonic game, but i disagree. IT is the best sonic game of them all. Holds up well even by today's standards, all three gameplay styles are enjoyable and soundtrack is FIRE.

    First off, let me get the flaws out of the way.
    This game ain't perfect, it has its fair share of issues, such as the light dash and the bounce attack being mapped to the same button (leading to some **** moments), the radar in the treasure-hunting levels being gimped (but the neat hint system exists so it's not a big issue), the mech stages having some real bs enemy placements (more    First off, let me get the flaws out of the way.
    This game ain't perfect, it has its fair share of issues, such as the light dash and the bounce attack being mapped to the same button (leading to some **** moments), the radar in the treasure-hunting levels being gimped (but the neat hint system exists so it's not a big issue), the mech stages having some real bs enemy placements (more visible in Mission Street and Eternal Engine), and the lack of a hub world in the likes of SA1, which is a shame. All of these shortcomings don't really matter to me, but these are still shortcomings nonetheless. But hey, at least there are mods for the PC version that fixes some of these issues.

    But please, let's not pretend that Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine (games that came out around the same time as the GC version of this game) are flawless as well. Those games have problems of their own and yet everyone still praises them to death. Everyone's happy to talk down to SA2 for its flaws and yet ignore the flaws in those two other games, great as they are. A bit unfair, don't you think?

    But now, let's get to the good parts.
    In my opinion, this is one of, if not, the best Sonic game ever made. I don't have much nostalgic attraction towards this game, and yet I still love it a lot. This game builds on top of its predecessor, SA1 (which is a pretty good game) and improves almost everything from it. Gameplay is better, music is as amazing as usual, story is neat and enjoyable, graphics are charming as hell (well, the Dreamcast graphics, anyways) and the writing is as cheesy as ever, but in a good way.

    The game features fast speed stages that require you to be attentive and reactive to any obstacle coming your way, with the reward being the satisfaction of speed. You're encouraged to do special tricks like grinding rails and chaining homing attacks to get A ranks here.
    Then there are the treasure-hunting stages, which are quite fun. I see people bashing the treasure-hunting stages non-stop, and while I can see where they're coming from, to me they are pretty damn neat. It's so damn fun to just explore the stages and glide around. They are still quite fast imo, just not as fast as the speed stages.

    The mech stages are also great. The movement is definitely a bit slow but the levels make up for that by requiring you to be extra-attentive and quick-minded when to protect yourself from getting hit by enemies. I love getting combos and farming chaos drives for my Chao Garden in these stages.

    Oh, speaking of which, the Chao Garden is the best part of any videogame ever and I don't need to tell you why. All I can tell you is that my pet chao are now legally my children and you can't tell me otherwise, I love them that much.

    The ranking system is also amazing and adds loads of replay value to these stages and it's really damn cool.

    Overall, my favorite Sonic game ever (right next to Sonic Mania) and one of my favorite games ever. It deserves way more love than it gets on the internet imho. 9.7/10, right next to Sonic Mania.    … Expand

    It's a good game, a very nice one, but, it has a problem, that, is by far, Sonic and Shadow levels, not because they're bad levels, it's becase this levels are too short and there are not too much, just 11 of 30 levels, they're the third part of this game, the other levels are too largue compared with Sonic/Shadow levels.
    Away from that, it's one of the bests Sonic games

    Sonic Adventure 2 was initially released back in 2001 as the swansong for SEGA's Dreamcast and man did the Dreamcast bow out with style.

    The game has 3 distinct playstyles. Sonic and Shadow have fast paced platforming with lots of corkscrews, tricks and excitement to behold. This gameplay style is more action-packed than it's predecessor, Sonic Adventure 1.     The game has 3 distinct playstyles. Sonic and Shadow have fast paced platforming with lots of corkscrews, tricks and excitement to behold. This gameplay style is more action-packed than it's predecessor, Sonic Adventure 1. These stages are the most fun part of SA2. The game's level design is exquisite and require you to remain alert. But, these segments aren't perfect, there are a few things holding this playstyle back. The game's controls and collision can feel rather janky and unpolished which can lead to a few unfair deaths. Moveover, the game's lackuster camera occasionally struggles to track the player.

    This problem is most apparent in Knuckles' and Rouge's treasure-hunting stages. These stages require you to locate 3 shards of the master emerald in large 3D environments with a radar and clues to help to find them. This is probably my least favourite playstyle in the game. The radar has been nerfed since SA1 as that game allowed to track multiple items at once, while this game can handle one. This feels like a blatant excuse to increase game time. Other than those quibbles, this gamestyle is rather enjoyable. The level design is just as immaculate as the speed stages and finding the shards can be quite enjoyable.

    Just like how shooting up robots are! This incredible Segway leads us to the game's final playstyle, Tails and Eggman's shooting stages. These stages have you destroying robots and traverse the stages in a mech. These stages can be quite mundane until you acquire upgrades for Tails' and Eggman's mech later in the game. These really spice up their gameplay and the later stages become more frantic, fun as they really utilise these upgrades. And, you can go back to previous stages and utilise these new abilities to find secrets or move through the stages faster. This goes for most of the game's upgrades. For example, Sonic and Shadow's light speed dash has you speeding through a trail of rings at light speed. This utilised well in Metal Habour, Sonic's second stage.

    The Chao garden is an enjoyable extra mode where you raise adorable creatures and have them race and play karate. And the game's 2 player mode sweetens the deal.    … Expand

    Sonic Adventure 2 is the sequel to Sonic Adventure, who'da thunk right? Similarly to the first game we follow several characters, but here the characters are split up into two teams; the Hero team, including Sonic, Tails and Knuckles, and the Dark Team, including new comers Shadow The Hedgehog and Rogue The Bat, as well as Dr. Eggman himself. There are three gameplay styles including your standard gameplay from SA1, being S P E E D shared between Sonic and Shadow, a worse version of the emerald hunting gameplay from the first game shared between Knucks and Rogue, and finally, a pretty easy if boring third person shooter section shared between Tails and Eggman. You may have realized that I don't seem to care much for a whopping 2/3rds of the gameplay styles here, but unlike Sonic Unleashed where I similarly only like a third of the gameplay, I find the non-Sonic gameplay to be fairly superfluous, they don't take 30+ minutes, they're not mind numbingly boring and they don't force a half baked combat system down your throat. The worst gameplay is undoubtedly the Emerald Hunting, it's pretty bad. Like the first game you must find Emeralds with a tracker, only now levels are way bigger and take way more time, they never lasted quite as long as the Werehog but man were not fun. Next on the chopping block is the shooting, it's pretty much the same as Gamma from SA1, if a little better, they're not quite as easy as Gamma but they're still pretty easy, a bit of platforming here and there, some mindless shooting and you're done, nothing that'll put you to sleep but nothing very engaging either, fairly middle of the road if you ask me. Finally there's the speedy go fast levels, these are predictably the best, they're great fun, especially the first Stage for the Hero Team, City Escape, which yes, is where the infamous "rolling around at the speed of sound" Song comes from... Which I love, unironically, it's a good song cowards! But yeah the gameplay is your standard Sonic affair, not quite as perfectly fluid and fast as Unleashed, not Automated to hell like Forces but not quite as janky as SA1, it's pretty great but some improvements could definitely be made, and they were in future titles.

    The story revolves around Shadow in his first appearance, coming to earth to kill everybody... Yup. See Shadow has amnesia and believes his dead friend Maria asked him to take revenge on humanity after G.U.N, remember G.U.N? Killed her. Why Shadow would think Maria would ask for revenge and against all of humanity at that is beyond me, but it's fine, they straighten him out eventually. He's aided by Dr. Eggman who's doing the usual Eggman things and Rouge The Bat, a secret agent for G.U.N. This game also started the trend of people mistaking Sonic for literally anybody and everybody else, despite Shadow being red and black and Sonic being blue... Maybe humanity should be wiped out by Shadow. On the Heroes side, Sonic has to clear his name and he's aided by Tails and Knuckles because friendship is dope. This game introduces Gerald Robotnik, Eggmans grandfather, he doesn't do much outside of this game but hey, it makes it all the more confusing when Forces tries to convince you the world is made up of anthro's and not humans.

    Adventure 2 carries a lot of flaws that the first game had, weird controls, a funky camera, bad gameplay sections and uh... interesting character animations and dialogue, but overall the game manages to be a more enjoyable time overall, be it it's slightly better gameplay or it's melodramatic story that actually lands a few of it's emotional beats, I find this game to be far more enjoyable than the first and it's the one I go back to more.

Геймплей стал чутка хуже с первой части, но мне он тоже по душе. До предшественника не дотягивает, но хороший балл заслуживает однозначно. Мамаш хейтеров жду к себе по выходным.Одна из лучших игр про ежа, переигрываю кучу раз, всё очень нравится, есть недочёты, но на них можно закрыть глаза. Что сюжет, что музыка прекрасны. Shadow is a great rival and his backstory tends to take turns along with the story. Well there are two sides to Play as the hero and the bad guys which gives main characters of the series get more of a spotlight. By the way the controls are exceptional and all the levels are creative and are explorable with iconic titles and pretty great graphics for a 2001 game. The only problem is that the story can get pretty confusing just pay attention and have fun with this Great game.… Expand

    Sonic Adventure is a great game. Sonic Adventure 2 is a masterpiece. He defined what the saga would be in the following years, gave us two characters to remember and gave us one of the most iconic themes in the history of gaming, Live & Learn.

    Simply incredible!!! History perhaps being the best of the series, phases with varied gameplay but without losing the essence of Sonic and of course, the first appearance of Shadow and Rouge.
    But there may be things that can be annoying, like the fact that we can't choose who to play with, just the hero campaign or the dark campaign.     It's a great game!

    The music was soo fitting The level design for sonic was amazing Bosses are actually challenging and fun!     But for now, If you are looking for an incredible 3D Sonic experience, Sa2 is a perfect choice!

    Best 3D Sonic game for sure! No argument that this is a top 3 DC title and a must have for your collection.

    Great story and great graphics. A lot more development work put into the Chao garden with the addition of mini games as well.

    The people that dislike Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 need to git gud. The Sonic franchise peaked at this era and took a nosedive afterwards.

    It's not perfect but it's a damn good game and has a well written(relatively for a sonic game) yet delightfully silly story and amazing soundtrack and art style at a level that has never been achieved in a Sonic game since.

    Sonic Adventure 2, although not as good as the first, it's still an amazing game! The story is phenomenal and the 3 styles of gameplay are all fantastic with Sonic and Shadows being the best. Tails and Eggman is like Gamma's stages but more unique and still fun. Knuckles and Rouges stages although sometimes annoying, I can still get a good kick out of it. 10/10 Great game!

    I played this game recently and I love it especially the speed sections. The only reason this is an 8/10 is because of the tedious treasure hunting and mech stages, other this game is old but gold. Although I don't like it as much as I like sonic adventure 1 it's still an amazing sequel to the first game and it's crazy that this game is looked down upon it's a great sonic game sure it's aI played this game recently and I love it especially the speed sections.     An absolutely BRILLIANT game! It takes all that was good in Sonic Adventure 1, and expands on it even further! The game is split up into 2 stories- Hero and Dark. In the Hero story, you must save the world from Eggman's dastardly doings, as you usually would. You can be Sonic, Tails or Knuckles, each controlling differently and have different goals for each stage they play. In Dark mode,An absolutely BRILLIANT game! It takes all that was good in Sonic Adventure 1, and expands on it even further! The game is split up into 2 stories- Hero and Dark. In the Hero story, you must save the world from Eggman's dastardly doings, as you usually would. You can be Sonic, Tails or Knuckles, each controlling differently and have different goals for each stage they play. In Dark mode, you can be Shadow, Eggman and Rouge and you need to destroy the planet? Yes, this is the only Sonic game where you have the option to be the villain! Each story is fun, entertaining, and sometimes quite emotional. They all control very well, but Tails and Eggman's mech controls could be improved, but it isn't that big a deal. Then, as a little side plot, there's the Chao garden. Oh boy... the Chao garden is the most useless yet addictive side game of all time! By finding a Chao key in the stage you just beat, you get the option to visit the Chao World, where... you guessed it... chao live. (If you've been to the Chao World once before, you can then select it on the world map at any time.) You begin with 2 eggs, both of which will hatch in a few seconds and you get your first 2 Chao. Look after them by petting them and feeding them, and it'll change colour from blue to white or black, depending on the character you use. The more white or black your chao gets, the stronger it will be in their races. Races, I hear you ask? Yes, you can indeed race your chao in this game. But not the dreadful chao races from SA1, oh, no-no-no. These races are a fun test of your chao's skill and ability, and every time your chao wins, it gets happier and healthier, so it's a great way to get your chao stronger. You can even save your Chao to your VMU to train it on the go! There's so much more the Chao garden has to offer, but I'll leave that for you to find out. That's about it for the masterpiece that is Sonic Adventure 2, and do I recommend it? Yes!     This game is divided into 3 gameplay styles: Action stages, shooting stages and the hunting stages.
    Of course the action stages are evryone's favorite, icluding myself. They are so fun amd almost all of them never get old. The controls feel soooooo responsive, and almost all of them are pretty well designed. My favorite is City Escape.
    The shooting stages are a lot of fun too. Even though they may be not as well designed as the action stages, they still have a lot of charm. The controls are pretty rough, but I just love beating the hell outta things.
    The hunting stages are... ok. They really have a lot of flaws like only detecting one emerald at a time, the radar is too small or the stages are too big. But there's something that saves these stages from being really miserable. The controls. Both Knuckles and Rouge feel incredibly slick and good to control. Thanks to this, I have a lot of fun searching for the Master Emerald pieces. Don't get me wrong, at their worst, these stages are really meh but are their best, they are actually fun.

    The soundtrack is probably the best in any Sonic game, almost all tracks are simply perfect. The chao garden is just... Great. The story, ok, it may be very chessy at points but I love the story in this games. It just feels like an Adventure.

    In conclusion: This game is still fun to this day. Sure, some parts don't hold up after all these years, but to me, I really like this game. I consider it to be one of my favorite Sonic games.    … Expand

Sonic Adventure 2 is a 3D high speed action platformer released in 2001, and is one of the most memorable games in the Sonic franchise. The levels are very memorable and beloved by many, such as City Escape, Green Forest, Metal Harbour, Pumpkin Hill and several others. Along with the memorable level comes the story that may seem silly to take seriously but still has it's charm. Many fans of the game would agree that they don't really like the Shooting or Treasure Hunting parts of the game. This is mainly because those stages are more common than the stages everyone wants to play, which are the Sonic and Shadow stages. This is most likely because Sonic Team wanted to increase the length of this game. The game's soundtrack is also really good, even in stages that aren't so great. Jun Sunoe is the best guitar player ever, and best video game composer to this day.

    Also included in Sonic Adventure 2 is a sub game called Chao Garden. In this mode you look after creatures called Chao, and you can level them up and change their appearances by collecting Chaos Drives and Animals in the main game's stages. Leveling these Chao up makes them stronger at Running, Swimming, Flying, Fighting and increases Stamina, which is useful if you enter them into Chao Races or Chao Karate. This mode is probably the reason why a lot of people spend time grinding in the main game's stages, and the reason why they still play today.

    Included in the game is a multiplayer mode and kart racing. kart racing isn't very special. It's kind of basic, and the races aren't really that exciting. If you happen to mess up, it makes it harder to catch up to first place again. Multiplayer mode on the other hand has you and another player choose between racing with speed characters like Sonic and Shadow, battling with Tails or Eggman, and being the first to find two pieces of the master emerald with Knuckles or Rouge. The multiplayer mode is fun, and adds to replayability if you have a friend who is good at the game with you.

    In the stages and Chao Garden, you can receive emblems for completing certain tasks. There are a total of 180, and when they have all been collected you can replay Green Hill Zone from Sonic 1 but in 3D. It is a cool stage, but it doesn't work that well in 3D and doesn't feel like it's worth collecting 180 emblems for.

    Overall this game is fun. It hasn't aged too well with it's weird character animations and cutscenes or slightly clunky controls, but you will have a good time when looking past those flaws.    … Expand

    Gameplay:
    Sonic and Shadow are the classic 3d stages from the original sonic adventure, and really, you can't go wrong here. A game that rewards you with going fast rather than just giving it to you, and level specific gimmicks that are executed really well.

    Tails and Eggman use the formula that Gamma had in the original sonic adventure; and even though I prefer those stages, Tails' and Eggman's stages are a decent attempt, unfortunately hindered by some clunky controls that haven't aged too well. Mediocre at WORST.

    However, I can't say that I enjoyed Knuckles and Rouges levels, with Mad Space possibly being the worst part in the entire game. I enjoyed Knuckles' stages from SA1 because they were small spaces. Not only did SA2 decide to make the levels bigger, but make the radar only pick up one emerald signal at a time. These stages are why I have never beaten this game 100%, but they don't ruin the entire experience, an is worth getting through to play the other game modes.

    Chao:
    Have you heard of a game called duck life? well that's basically a clone of the chao garden. The Dreamcast also has a chao mini-game for the VMU. Unfortunately the original version doesn't have a menu pop up to show you chao's stats, so you just have to trial and error your way through the challenges. Still more fun than it has any right to be as fun as it is for a little thing on the side of the sonic game.

    In general, I would say that Sonic adventure for it's time is an amazing game, and looking back at it now, it's defiantly stood the test of time rather well, but there are better versions of the game out there.    … Expand

The 2 new characters I think are thought out well. We get to play as EGGMAN? This game is full of awesome surprises. The setting is great and the story is amazing as well. This game I can go on all day but the more I say this the more I think YOU should play. Get the dreamcast and play the amazing masterpiece and I'm sure you'll love it. Great job Sega!… Expand

    This is an amazing game. You can finally play as eggman, shadow has been introduced, and rouge is just awesome. This is one of the best sonic games. I also like it because of the freaking awesome Live and Learn soundtrack.

    This is the best 3D sonic nothing tops this besides sonic generation and sonic colors. This game introduces shadow the hedgehog and he is a great character to play with

    THIS GAME is amazingly fun you will spend hours and minutes playing but even thoe it didnt save the dreamcast its still a awsome game i recomend you try it out

    The story is epic, presentation is adventurous, the controls slick, and the gameplay is perfect. A 10/10. Of course, we'll sadly always have those stupid, stupid idiots slandering this game's perfectly fine gameplay. (rolls eyes) Sonic fanbase.

    This game is an excellent follow up to the first game, improving on the camera and story, fun gameplay, and even the chao garden is better! BEST 3D SOIC GAME EVER!!!
