    It's hard to believe that the survival-horror genre can only be done right by Capcom (and perhaps Konami), but Hail to the King will do little to convince you otherwise.

    If you walk away from this game in less than a couple minutes I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit. The control is the most horrible I have ever seen, making is near impossible to control Ash using the control stick.

    While there are a few interesting spots and plot points, Evil Dead the game has managed to turn one of the most original and entertaining of all B-horror-film franchises into nothing more than a boring, uninspired, and pedestrian attempt to cash in on a license.

    If only this game had the good control and the creative puzzles of "Resident Evil," it might have been a damn fine game. Of course it's not a damn fine game. It's a pretty bad one, but at least it's short.

    A masterpiece of lazy design strapped onto a fantastic idea, this game uses its license to fool unsuspecting fans of Raimi's films, and of survival horror games in general, into thinking it might live up to its title.

    Rent it like I did, beat in a couple of nights (it's about 4-5 hours long if you rush through it conserving your ammo/gas and avoiding the respawning Deadites) and mourn the butchering of yet another promising movie franchise in a videogame that fails to do justice to its cool characters and interesting plot.

    First game i owned and played to death on DC never understood the hate for it.

    When playing any video game,you must always experience the game(or system)in it's CONTEXT.Now,armed with this little nugget of When playing any video game,you must always experience the game(or system)in it's CONTEXT.Now,armed with this little nugget of insight,one can appreciate systems like the Sega Genesis and the N64 for what they were,and just enjoy the game experience(not worrying about a lack of updated graphics). Disclaimer aside,Evil Dead:Hail to the King is an outstanding Dreamcast title.Any fan of the trilogy of films(starring the hammy,comedic stylings of master thespian Bruce Campbell)will be naturally intrigued,but this title has much to offer the casual fan. Without revealing major plot points,I will say this adventure centers around Ash(our hero)'s attempts at returning an unholy book to it's rightful state,and stop an evil uprising from taking place. With elemnts of Capcom's Resident Evil series,and hilariously animated cut scenes,this is a must-have title for any Dreamcast gamer.… Full Review »
