Overall, the game is fantastic. It’s fun for solo play and is even better when working in co-op. I’ve poured hours into the game and have still not completed every possible task available. There’s so much replayability and it’ll have you craving for more Yo-kai madness… or maybe a Yo-kai is making you think that. Regardless, the game is definitely fantastic and I’d highly recommend adding it to your 3DS’s library.

Yo Kai Watch Blasters Red Cat/Blue Dog Corps offer a new way to experience the Yo Kai Watch series. With a new battle system that feels like a fast-paced action RPG, Blasters still delivers elements to the game that are both familiar and fresh. Having to talk to NPCs to level up and change teammates, as well as the frustrating RNG are among some of the few downsides to the game. However h, this doesn’t take away from the great experience and gameplay that Yo Kai Watch Blasters has to offer. Fans of the series and newcomers will love this title.

Yo-kai Watch Blasters: Red Cat Corps is a very entertaining and fun game that will delight fans of the saga, although it is also perfect for newcomers, as the title has a much simpler and direct approach than the main games. However, it is based on completing missions, so its formula may end up becoming something repetitive for some players.

While its rinse and repeat Diablo-lite gameplay can get a little repetitive after extended play, there’s no denying how much fun it is to return to the world of Yo-kai Watch. Whether playing solo or via local or online co-op, Level-5 has taken all the hallmarks of the series and made it even more accessible to newcomers and seasoned monster hunters. A fine way to see off the series on 3DS, and proof the Yo-Kai series is strong enough to tweak its formula with a spin-off and still maintain that quintessential Japanese magic.

Yo-Kai Watch Blasters is a fun action game with minimal RPG mechanics, the demonstration that Nintendo 3DS is still in shape.

Unlike the previous games, it is based on direct action. Its system is simple and repetitive, but also fun. The cooperative mode is a big strong point.

A good RPG game that, despite its lack of depth in gameplay and simplicity in his history, keeps entertaining with its fun characters.

A good diversion from the playful experience proposed by the main series.

Although we appreciated that frantic action seen in Yo-Kai Watch Blasters, our love for the unique combat system seen in the first two episodes remains unchanged, and we hope to see it return as soon as possible in the franchise. This spin-off is a nice buy for the newcomers, though.

A fair spin-off that could have been better if it had leaned even further into the parody that ultimately wound up just being inconsequential window dressing for gameplay that's not at all related to Ghostbusters. [Issue #37 – January/February 2019, p. 69]

Watch Blasters has some good ideas, but it ends up feeling repetitive and wearing out a concept that could’ve pushed the series a little but further.

Based on a strong concept, Yokai Watch Blasters is a solid game with beautiful visuals and many things to do. But the action may be chaotic at times, and the whole thing is really repetitive.

The game is repetitive and the gameplay is too bland. Only recommended to big fans of Yo-Kai Watch.

Each of the ten chapters has a storyline that somewhat overlaps with numerical Yo-Kai’s. But whatever the plot reason is, in the end you’ll find yourself plowing through enemies using the same two basic attacks. It’s a grind game, plain and simple – and an uninspired one at that. Its approach to the series remains simple and intuitive, with a good use of the 3D component. Unfortunately its tutorial segments are too long and cumbersome, the game is too blatantly based on the Ghostbusters movie license and its low level of difficulty renders the game's tactical component rather irrelevant.

It’s not going to change the world, but it would certainly interest a tween that wants to get into RPGs.

The game looks fantastic and has an excellent localization, but the lackluster and repetitive combat hold it back from being anything more than run-of-the-mill.

There is undoubtedly some blasting spirit into this efficiently action oriented Yo-Kai Watch spin-off, but with such ghostly narrative, skeletal structure and overall lack of consistency, only diehard fans may be haunted by this fleshed-out multiplayer experience for long.

Yo-kai Watch Blasters was very disappointing for me as a Yo-kai Watch fan because it just doesn’t carry the charm of the mainline games. It’s dull to play and that signature wit and wholesomeness was missing from the writing. While there’s plenty to do in the game, even after you’ve completed the story, it didn’t keep my attention long enough to see it all through. It might be worth checking out if you’re desperate to play something with friends, but otherwise you can treat this one like the yo-kai Dimmy and ignore it completely.

It’s a shame but Yo-Kai watch Blasters could have been a good game, but it’s let down by a lack of variety in what it offers in itself and against its predecessors.

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. Whether you're a Yo-Kai Watch fan or an action roleplaying game fan, stay far away from this game. With repetitive gameplay, painful grinding mechanics, a lackluster story theme, this is a spin off game that marked the beginning of Level Five's decline in quality game design. If the boss fights interest you, I'd advise you to watch them on Youtube rather then risk the chance of gaining finger blisters. For this game requires players to pour their soul into mashing buttons repeatedly in order to dodge and defeat a single post game boss. Full Review »
