I don't know why but this game is so much fun! Its a game to play when your board and it has amazing controls. The graphics for some reason make me love the game even more. Maybe the story is lacking but the gameplay is wonderful. I love the game and hope to see more games from the publishers

I downloaded the demo when it came out, and didn't like/understand it. When I upgraded my SD card, I downloaded every eShop demo, and tried it again, specifically to show somebody how bad it was. I ended up eating my own words. Actually playing the game, I found it surprisingly enthralling.

For what it is, this game is very fun when you want to play a cute little indie game to pass the time. The leveling system is decent, and it provides enough frustration to want to keep playing, but not so much that it's annoying. I recommend if you've got some extra money in your 3DS wallet.

I love this game! I think it's very fun... although i STILL haven't beaten medusa! (the lasers, man!)

This is primarily an ACTION game, but it can also be very meditative to play it, because the controls and gameplay are quite simple. Also, i feel like it is good for your brain, especially if you are using the Fireball with the witch, because you are actively having to think about

Also, i feel like it is good for your brain, especially if you are using the Fireball with the witch, because you are actively having to think about controlling two characters simultaneously.

There is a small bit of grinding required to get enough power to beat some of the middle levels, but it isn't too bad.

Overall, this is a fun game to just let your mind wander while still focusing on something (if that makes sense).

Also, i must say that the retro music and graphics are appealing to me. And the final boss fight is super-epic!

Very simple game, but very fun and a little burst of a good time. FInished the 20 levels in about 4 to 6h, got much better and came up with some cool techniques. Recommend, given the low price

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Witch & Hero is a short and sweet game with a simplistic style in both art and combat. you move the hero around and bump into enemies to damage them while taking damage yourself until you faint and get back up. all to protect the witch who has been petrified by Medusa if her life runs out it's game over so you'd best protect her. after a few levels you gain the ability to collect monster blood to unpetrify her for a short time to unleash her magic on the enemies. you collect experience and money from killed monsters to level up and purchase upgrades for the witch and hero from the shop. you can purchase upgrades to improve the hero's sword shield and boots which increase his damage defense and speed respectively and you can purchase upgrades for the witches spells storm , which sends 2 mini tornadoes circling outward from the witch, and fire , which shoots fireballs from the witch in a straight line and you can turn her with the shoulder buttons, upgrading the storm spell makes each tornado do more damage and upgrading the fire spell increases the damage and increases the number of fire balls you shoot at a time starting with one then moving up to three and finally five. after a few more levels you find the holy sword which after you've bumped into enemies enough times allows you to activate it's power which makes you invincible do more damage and move faster for a short time it also unpetrifies the witch and boosts the power of her spells as well. there are some points where you will have to stop and grind in order to get past some of the more difficult levels but it usually doesn't take too long. this is a fun game and it's a great time waster... all until you reach the final boss. the final boss is very different from the rest of the game because you only have one life and instead of just running into enemies and fainting you have to dodge her attacks and attack her when you have time but other than the hard and very different end boss this is a short and simple game that quite a few gamers will find enjoyment out of especially for the low price. A disaster. [July 2013, p.79]

Variety could have really done wonders here. Even with a small budget, tiny nuances like sword animations, items in the shop, and mini-boss depth could have gone a long way. Witch and Hero takes a simple, charming concept and somehow manages to make it repetitive, dry, and unfun.

It may be simple and it may rely far too heavily on its lush 8-bit visuals, but Witch & Hero provides you with some simple, silly fun on your 3DS in short bursts.
