Ocarina of Time is a solid game, and this this is a good remake of it. Higher resolution everything, nice controls, master quest included. A person could hardly ask for more. The 3D stuff even looks pretty good most of the time, if you care about that. I think my favorite part of the remake is that first-person aiming has (optional) motion controls, which makes things way cool.

If you've got a 3DS, you should pick up this game.

I loved the game when it came out on the Game Cube. But even with it being remade perfectly for the 3DS I just couldn't get into this type of game on such a small screen.

    Pros:
    +Graphics are nice.
+Soundtrack and sound in general is amazing.
    +Motion controls!
    +3D is good.

    Cons:
    -Clunky controls.
    -Boring as hell.
    -Dull combat.

Ocarina of Time is really not bad, don't get me wrong, but only if you really like Zelda, which i do not. I find other Zelda games much, much better. Instead of buying this, get ALBW.

Dungeon design is weak, usually you just entire a room, solve a lame puzzle and move on. Only a few dungeons actually seem unique. Back to the puzzles, they usually consist of "shoot this" or "throw that" at some obvious object. The world feels empty, like something is missing. All the characters are just living encyclopedias (excluding Zelda and Sheik). The combat is fun and complex but usually just slashing away with your sword gets the job done. At least the bosses are fun to fight and never feel the same. Expand

The game feels really old when you play, I mean, The camera view is terrible, The combat mode is almost rudimentary and requires and improvement, an update, because this game is just an adaptation from N64 to 3DS

Having never played the N64 original, I just found the game OK overall and did not understand the acclaim behind the game playing it fresh in 2015. I was constantly wishing i was playing this game as a remaster on a console rather than a handheld.

After finishing this game I have to admit that the story is really great and zelda OOT will be remembered by me mostly because of that story, amazing music, very magical locations and unique characters. Even by today's standards the overall atmosphere of the game is outstanding all of this is making zelda OOT really timeless and nostalgic. But unfortunately under all of those great things there is a huge amount of irritating and frustrating aspects. The Controls are absolutely terrible. I seriously thought that this game will make a good use of a new 3DS C-stick but unfortunately I was wrong. Lack of second thumbstick is just very wrong in 3D game these days. It's really frustrating when you're trying to Center the camera for jump or hit but then the camera decides to Center it for you because why not. Ufortunately a major portion of the game is so unintuitive... a lot of times seriously I had big problems to figure it out what I'm supposed to do at the moment. In lot of situations I ended up wondering in location for about an hour or two just to see the guide on the internet, that shows me that there is some kind of a hidden wall that I'm supposed to blow up with a bomb... Without the guide it's seriously very, very frustrating, unintuitive and just simply bad deigned game. Another strange thing is when you die or load a save you are teleported to a beginning of dungeon or location and that just forces you to reply whole location once more. Despite very good impressions after last boss fight I just simply can't ignore lot of wasting hours trying to find a way. And I can't forget the strong feelings of irritation and frustration. It's really not fun to play a game with guide all the time simply because you can't understand the dungeon design of creators. I highly recommend to watch some walk through or story explaining videos on YT but if you want to beat this game "on your own", a hugely recommend YT channel "ZeldaMaster" he will provide you with excellent tips and dungeon strategies. OoT is an amazing game. It still is. However, having played it so many times on the N64 I can't even remember, I have a few tiffs with this version. The 3D is cool and everything, but it hurt my eyes. Also, they changed the dialogue. This being the case, the effect wasn't the same. They sped up the type speed, but also the rest of the game. I assume it's for the short attention spans of the newer gamers. It ruins the feel of the game though and sometimes the cut scenes are too short to even read what's being said. It takes a short time to get up to Gannondorf (there used to be a long winding staircase which took all about forever to climb) and the organ music also stays the same volume as you get closer to him (which was one of the coolest parts of the game in my opinion). They fixed the timing on the switch you push to get the hammer, which was nice but far too easy. I went in expecting there to be a few things that I still couldn't get right on the first try and I was wrong. Anyways, I would recommend the N64 or game-cube version of the game before playing this one. Yes it's pretty, but I think it should have been more difficult. Expand

I don't understand why people are saying this is the best Zelda game, I'm not saying its a terrible game but it gets way too much glory than it deserves.

Having heard for years that this is the best game of all time I was thrilled when it came on the 3DS.

I enjoyed the temples to a certain extent, they were fun to solve but some could get frustrating with backtracking. But they always manage to make you feel satisfied while you're making progress

The game was fun in parts but overall frustrating and just not that interesting.

OK, so i am playing this game in 2019 after playing breath of the wild and i will admit that this game does not deserve the attention it gets. I never played the original on the n64 so i cant relate to that. THE GRAPHICS ARE AWFUL FOR A 3DS. Even games like tomodachi life have better graphics. I find the controls wak and the story to be OK but not enough to give this game more than 5 sorry

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Personally I feel the game feels a bit old and lacking. First of all I expected more in terms of its story, but disappointed.

One thing that I find weird is their version of saving is a bit... different. I saved at the castle level where you need to get past guards patrolling but to my surprise when I loaded my save found out I had to walk ALL THE WAY back to the level from where you start a new game. On top of that, all the monsters instantly respawn as soon as you leave a zone - yes, clean the monsters, go to other room, come back, ta-da! All the monsters are there!

I think with this current state of the game it feels like a beta to me more than a complete game. I gave it a 4 because the puzzles can be fun, but anything beyond that there wasn't anything for me.

The art style and atmosphere have been butchered in this re-release. Blood removed, moon symbols removed, saturation tripled, shiny anime game effect added. This is not Ocarina of Time, it's missing one of the most key parts of the experience, the mood. Playing this does not mean you have played Oot, you are still missing out heavily.

This game might have a good story and even game mechanics. However it has dreadful controls, in fact nothing I have ever played is as awkward to control as this game. This version of the game makes me miss the N64. The controls basically ruined an above average game for me. The soundtrack and the visuals look awesome.

One of the worst remasters I have ever played in my life. The movement feels awful. Link moves awful and not 360 like he usually does (windwaker, twilight princess, skyward sword, etc.) . The worst part is the fact that you can't move the camera but i guess that is the 3ds's fault. When the camera can't move it is hard to platform. If you ever want to have an awesome experience with this game, play the original. It is really unfortanate how they butchered such a legendary game. Expand

For Zelda fanatics, this re-release of one of the best Zelda titles out there seems like it could be a cash grab – but the additions, especially the great use of the 3DS graphical prowess and the 3D itself make it a must purchase for all gamers, new and old.

Beautiful graphics, that wonderful soundtrack, the enthralling story and that damn annoying fairy, the 3DS version has it all and is easily the best port to ever be made of the legend.

One of the most definite games from the 90's is back better than ever. The new visuals brighten the epic adventure well, and the Master Quest is a nice add. All in all Ocarina of Time is a true classic belonging in every 3DS owner's shelf. [Aug 2011]
