Feb 1, 2017An excellent platformer for 3DS and one of the best options for the system. It has tons of contents and joy. The difficulty level is just right.
-
Feb 20, 2017Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World may be lacking in a couple of areas when you compare it to 2015's platforming gem but it more than makes up for these aspects by including a handful of fantastic new additions. Even if you already own and love the Wii U version, Poochy & Yoshi will feel right at home on your 3DS, too.
-
Feb 3, 2017I find this game to be very charming and relaxing to play, and that’s for several reasons. The pace, challenge, controls, general gameplay, the graphics, and the music all make for a really enjoyable game that’s hard to put down.
-
Feb 1, 2017Packed to the brim with content. It goes beyond a simple port by incorporating intuitive gameplay tweaks, from Poochy's helpers to customisable yarn patterns. It's a charming, well designed platformer that draws plenty of influence from Yoshi's golden years, but expands on them with cleverly executed mechanics... A must-have for any 3DS owner who enjoys and appreciates the classic side-scroller.
-
Feb 1, 2017Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World is the porting that 3DS owners were waiting for: it has all the features of Wii U version and new funny additions.
-
Feb 1, 2017It takes fantastic original material and carefully adapts it for the portable, with extras compensating for one lost feature. In the process it becomes an elite 3DS 2D platformer, joining its Wii U predecessor in that company...If you have the Wii U version it's a tough decision on whether to double dip; both versions deliver the same terrific core game. If you haven't played this on Wii U and like Yoshi, 2D platformers or charming games, though, then this is a must-have for the 3DS.
-
Feb 2, 2017A 3DS port of a charming platformer, made of a love for details. A must-buy for the handheld, too.
-
Nintendo Force MagazineFeb 19, 2017I'd first encourage you to play the Wii U version if you have the means, but if you don't own a Wii U, this 3DS take is still great. [Issue #26 – March/April 2017, p.73]
-
Feb 14, 2017Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World is a nice port of the Wii U version, though anyone with the Wii U version might not find enough to warrant picking up this one. The difficulty is easy for veteran gamers but could be challenging for younger players. That doesn't, however, stop it from being a fun and casual game that will remind you of Yoshi's more classic outings.
-
Feb 11, 2017Fortunately, the most recent Yoshi’s adventure was well adapted to the 3DS, and remember us that this beautiful Woolly World has charming and well designed levels. It’s not the best Yoshi’s game, but definitely it is the most memorable one in years.
-
Feb 3, 2017Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World on 3DS is a great way to play what might be the green dinosaur’s best adventure yet.
-
Feb 1, 2017This is a great version of a great game. There aren't many reasons to buy it again if you played it on Wii U, but if you didn't, the 3DS version is a good choice too.
-
Feb 1, 2017A great version for Nintendo 3DS. It's not so awesome in visual terms, but it has the same love and spirit.
-
Feb 1, 2017If you skipped Woolly World on Wii U, Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World offers what is essentially a straight port. It doesn’t feel downgraded, even if the visuals aren’t quite as sharp. Exchanging co-op for the dedicated Poochy auto-run levels and a better mellow mode is a worthy trade. Woolly World is still the best Yoshi’s Island game since the original, even on this less-powerful platform.
-
Feb 1, 2017This Yoshi's port is remarkable in each of every part of the game. The level design continues to be superb, and the handheld environment feels as pure as the original. Probably the best Yoshi's adventure ever seen in a handheld.
-
Apr 6, 2017While Super Mario Maker 3DS felt crippled and downgraded, Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World feels equal. With the Wii U version getting updated to support Poochy & Poochy Dash there’s not too many advantages to the game, but also no downsides. If you missed this on Wii U, there’s no excuses not to pick this up, but if you do own it already you may just want to look into adding the amiibo to your collection. Now if only we had some Poochy Pup amiibo….
-
Feb 15, 2017Even though it feels like (and in some ways is) a cut-down version of the Wii U game, Wooly World on the 3DS retains most of the qualities of the original, thus delivering a great platforming experience.
-
Feb 14, 2017Beautiful colorful experience with a solid gameplay, whose playing warms the heart and return you to a time when fairy tales and crayons were everything you needed to be happy.
-
Feb 11, 2017The level layouts are excellent, the sugary aesthetic is unique, and the protagonists are easily liked. While the lack of co-op and additional Poochy Dash levels are noticeable, Nintendo has still put together a wonderful handheld edition of one of its best side-scrollers in recent years. It’s accessible, expertly crafted, and simply enjoyable – all of which is an incredibly hard line to tow.
-
Feb 7, 2017Much easier and down on the graphical standpoint too, Poochy & Yoshi's Wooly World is still a very good platformer game, even if it's aimed at a younger audience hence the addition of Poochy, a good pup that helps the player around with combat and discovering secrets. The genuine game on Wii U is the one to go for, but if you only own the portable console, Poochy & Yoshi's Wooly World is still a safe bet.
-
Feb 4, 2017Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World is a great game. The yarn style look is a fun change from most other platformers and while the game has a handful of challenging moments, generally the difficulty is nicely balanced. If you’ve never played the Wii U version, and you’ve enjoyed Yoshi’s previous adventures – or if you just generally enjoy side-scrolling platformers – than you really can’t go wrong with this game. However, if you’ve played the Wii U version, there really isn’t much new content here to warrant a new purchase, unless you absolutely need a portable version or more Poochy.

-
Feb 2, 2017Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World comes to 3DS and it’s every bit as delightful (and simple) as it was on the Wii U .
-
Feb 1, 2017This port of the 2015 Wii U title Yoshi's Wooly World doesn't try to break the mold, though it's certainly cuter.
-
Feb 1, 2017A good but not great platformer that is almost as good as the original game on Wii U, but considerably smaller. But Poochy is lovely.
-
Feb 1, 2017While the titular Poochy is mostly an ancillary piece of the game through a series of mini-games and shorts, they pair well enough with the other new additions to make one think about double dipping with Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World.
-
Feb 1, 2017If you missed out on the original Woolly World, don’t make the same mistake on the 3DS. This is a beautifully made, brilliantly designed 2D platformer with lots of charm and some fantastic levels. It gives Mario’s dino chum his best outing since the original Yoshi’s Island 20 years ago.
-
Feb 1, 2017Woolly World didn't shrink on 3DS, it gained volume thanks to sweet stop-motion playlets, downy three-dimensional effects, an even softer gameplay carried by the Poochy Pups, along with hectic dashes and self woven jumpers. Despite the cooperative's cut, Good-Feel undoubtedly expressed some warming fiber art through the port of this fluffy adventure.
-
Feb 1, 2017If you are up for a meaty platformer, Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World will keep you entertained throughout February.
-
Feb 1, 2017Quotation forthcoming.
-
Feb 1, 2017All in all, the Wii U version of Woolly World was a pretty nice game. We can easily consider Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World as a "Director's Cut" of the same game, available on a more suitable platform, the portable Nintendo 3DS; a title bound to charm adults and kids alike. Beware, though: there's cuteness everywhere.
-
Feb 1, 2017Although it picks up some unfortunate compromises along the way, Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World is every bit the engrossing, expertly designed platformer that it was on the Wii U. It’s a challenging and equally rewarding title, with enough options to captivate both the casual onlooker and die-hard platforming fan just itching for a new test. Even if the dust has settled, this is a game to brush it off your 3DS for.
-
Feb 1, 2017Sew-tably adorable, Yoshi’s delightful platforming makes a charmingly inventive addition to the 3DS line up.
-
Feb 1, 2017It's difficult for a port to reach the level of the original, more so when the original is for a more advanced system, but Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World does just that. Even if it doesn't introduce groundbreaking elements compared to the original game behind it, this platforming gem does everything we can expect and more thanks to its marvelous graphics, challenging nature and lifespan.
-
Feb 1, 2017Quotation forthcoming.
-
Feb 1, 2017Yoshi's Woolly World is still a funny and colorful platform game, but the screen size and resolution don't allow the original art direction to shine as it should.
-
Mar 20, 2017The disappointing Poochy levels and lack of multiplayer aside, I had a lot of fun with Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World. That’s coming from someone who has a love hate relationship with platformers that leans more towards the hate side of things. If you’ve never played Yoshi’s Woolly World before, then you’re in for a treat. If you have, then you know what to expect; It’s still the same great game.
-
Feb 13, 2017Poochy and Yoshi’s Wooly World remains a solid platformer and a little added content will make newcomers who experience the game for the first time happy. However, the same problems are prevalent in this port, and while it’s a great experience, does lose some of its luster next to its console counterpart.
-
Feb 1, 2017If you never got the chance to play the original on Wii U, then this portable iteration may be a good deal for you, with its brilliant level design, cute protagonists and colorful visuals. Otherwise, there's nothing new here that would deserve a second buy for the owners of the almost-last gen Nintendo console.
-
Feb 14, 2017Demand for Wooly World in any of its versions (Wii U or 3DS) to match the greatness of Yoshi’s Island or Yoshi’s World might seem to be asking too much, but the thing is that it has the potential to do so. What the game offers right now is enough to please Yoshi’s fans at its most, even if the rest of the players won’t get their expectations fulfilled. Still Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World is a fun, adorable and enjoyable game, and one of the best in the platform genre that you can find on the 3DS.
-
Feb 1, 2017Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World remains one of the cutest games around. Even though most of the tactile charm of the Wii U original has been lost to the 3DS’s technical limitations, there’s still plenty of fun to be uncovered in this colourful and often inventive platformer. Incidentally, it also brings some of the happiest, catchiest music ever to the 3DS.
-
games(TM)Mar 9, 2017Maintains most of the fun, but loses some style. [Issue#184, p.78]
-
Feb 13, 2017This game is fine on 3DS, but we do miss the beautiful cutesy graphics the original offered us on Wii U. It is amazing how Nintendo offers an easier way of playing, while still offering an entertaining game.
-
Feb 10, 2017Poochy and Yoshi's Woolly World is a great platformer. The cute style and entertaining gameplay make this game one of the best platformers for 3DS. It just doesn't live up to it's predecessor on Wii U.
-
Feb 2, 2017A perfectly competent platformer, perhaps Yoshi’s best since Super Mario World 2, but one that is far less unique than its visuals suggest.
-
Feb 1, 2017Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World is cute, but not worth revisiting if you’ve played it on Wii U. With a cutesy aesthetic and new, even easier ways to SuperGuide proceedings, this one’s best for children.
-
Feb 1, 2017There are still plenty of challenges and content to be found in the ‘3DS version of the game. The uniqueness and musical charm are present, just not in a way that complements the console version of Yoshi’s Woolly World.
-
Feb 1, 2017While the core game has changed very little since its original appearance on Wii U a little more than a year ago, Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World giveth, and it taketh away. If you don't mind the visual downgrade and the loss of cooperative play, you'll probably enjoy the new additions on tap here (most of which, unsurprisingly, revolve around Yoshi's canine companion Poochy). At its heart, this is the best follow-up to Yoshi's Island to date, so it's absolutely worth your time if you missed it on Wii U.
-
Feb 1, 2017Though the gulf between two very different difficulties is not fully fixed by its additions, from the updated Mellow Mode to the extra Poochy levels, Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World gives you what you put in--it can either be almost frustratingly hard for a determined collector or a good fit for someone who’s just looking for a fun, relaxing few hours of platforming.
-
Feb 1, 2017Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World won't make a huge impact on the gaming year of 2017, but it's a solid, well-crafted 3DS-remake with great accessibility and variety amongst its colorful levels.
-
Feb 1, 2017It's the best Yoshi game on the 3DS, and if you don't already own it on the Wii U, I would suggest picking it up.
-
Feb 1, 2017Aside from the visual downgrade and lack of coop, Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World is a faithfully recreation of the Wii U original for the 3DS. It is still a vibrant and appealing game, especially suited for younger children. For older gamers, hunting all the collectables for 100% completion is where the game gets challenging. Coming to handheld devices has hurt the game somewhat though.
-
Feb 1, 2017Poochy and Yoshi’s Woolly World presents us with a wonderfully realised yarny universe to play around in, but it’s the formulaic gameplay and lack of incentive for returning players that keeps this Yoshi title from reaching platforming iconicity.
-
Feb 4, 2017It might not be as polished as the console version, but it still remains an entertaining platformer especially for a portable gaming device.
-
Edge MagazineFeb 27, 2017This cosy, likeable platformer gives 3DS players a superior alternative to Arzest's insipid New Island. [March 2017, p.105]
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Feb 6, 2017Entertaining and beautiful platformer for 3DS handheld is designed especially for those who loved the animated adventures of a blue-eyed cat in their childhood. [Issue #271]
