Visually this is the best mobile Pokémon adventure yet. And while the new pocket monsters with their final forms are creative as always the island hopping lacks the challenge of older Pokémon games.

All-in-all, fans of battling, wonder-trading, and scratching their Pokémon behind the ear will still find things to love in the game, and for many, the changes in Sun and Moon are a refreshing reinvention of a classic formula. It may be initially jarring to veterans, but it is an attractive option for those who have been away from the series for a time to return.

Longtime Pokémon fans can buy without hesitation. New or lapsed Pokémon fans will have an easier time picking up Sun and Moon than any other main series Pokémon game in recent memory.

The world of Pokémon is finally, exactly that: a world, with charming, textured characters not just in the named friends and foes you meet, but the random people on your journey, the region you live in, the music, the Pokémon themselves and the very soul of the journey. At long last, Pokémon is not just back. With Sun and Moon, it feels fresh again. [Essential]

For 20 years now, Pokémon games have presented fantasies where people live, battle, and grow alongside powerful monsters. In Pokémon Sun and Moon, that wistful reverie invites you take a holiday, leave your worries behind, and grab yourself a lei. As it happens with all good vacations, Pokémon found itself again.

Helping and being helped, working together, and loving everyone, regardless of where they’re coming from, is a lesson that we can all forget at times. And I’m overjoyed to know that children picking up these games today might just walk away better, more empathetic people even though at the end of the day they’re still teaching digital animals to tear each other apart.

No moreFinally, Nintendo have made changes to the pokemon formula, and it's sweet. this game outclasses every pokemon game since the 2nd gen. No more gyms, no more hms, and no more useless unoriginal and ugly new pokemon, instead alolan forms were added to make some cool pokemon even better! (except alolan dugtrio...). For once, there's an actual story, and it's pretty good. Most of the trials that have replaced the gyms are very fun, and the online works better than ever. Once I started playing this game, I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. It's even possible to catch most of the 1st gen pokemon. The best addition in this game is that you can defend the league as pokemon champions, and that's VERY COOL. Once I started playing this game, I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. My only complaint with this game is that both the legendary pokemon of sun and moon suck! (But Necrozma is freaking cool so it sort of makes up for it). Full Review »
