Mario Party: The Top 100 is a fun game. It includes 100 minigames from the first ten home console Mario Party games, and it revolves around this. However, it is not without faults:

*Uneven minigame selection. Whether this is a fault is debatable, but I would've preferred 10 minigames from each game. I was excited to play some of my favourite Mario Party 8 minigames, only to find that only 3 minigames from that game are included.

It may seem like I'm being overly negative, but I want to clarify that I had fun with this game. I just think it has little replay value and didn't use the great potential it had (why was this released on 3DS and not on Switch?).

Good games. But no Good boards. Seriously, there is only one multiplayer board. So is this game purposely for single player? Also, no online mode? No Donkey Kong? This should've been $30. No offense Nintendo.
Anyway, I wish that the next Mario Party game has Paper Mario and have one minigame with WarioWare microgames. Those microgames are awesome.

The Top 100 includes 100 minigames from the main Mario Party games before it. A strong idea on paper, but there's nothing to do outside of that! No story, no interesting boards, no online, no anything! Also, only 8 characters. Seriously Nintendo? Star Rush had 12. Sure, the Minigames are fun. We get fan-favorites like Bumper Balls, Pushy Penguins, Book Squirm, etc. But when you take inThe Top 100 includes 100 minigames from the main Mario Party games before it. The Top 100 is a rare dud from Nintendo. Expand

This game was one of the most disappointing games of all time. When I first saw this I thought they would take 10 minigames from each mario party (1-10) and the best ones, but this game is nothing like that. Overall, not a bad game, but not a great game. The only other Mario Party I bought was DS, and I was hoping I could experience some boards from previous Mario Party games, but in the end, I was disappointed. But what REALLY shines, and I mean REAAAAALLY shines, is the minigames. The selection is still flawed though, as it doesn't have any handheld MP minigames (c'mon, where's the MarioOverall, not a bad game, but not a great game. The selection is still flawed though, as it doesn't have any handheld MP minigames (c'mon, where's the Mario Party DS representation?) and the selection it does have doesn't equally represent each game. The board mode, or whatever it's called, is downright mediocre. I mean, I like the concept of everyone goes at once (but the turn-based gameplay is still better), but it wasn't done properly here. Overall, I really liked Mario Party: The Top 100, but not enough to warrant it at least an 8. As of right now:

    - the bringing back of old classic games are an amazing idea
    - as a negative the handheld nature takes away a ton of the fun of playing a mario party, fundamentally a multiplayer game

All that the game offers its fun, but there is a lack of content. Its very bare bones and even if the game is good its way too small of a game to recommend it to everyone. If you like Mario Party, you may have fun, I indeed did, i actually liked this game. But, uhhh, its kind of an incomplete experience

Nd Cube destroyed what would be the best game in the franchise. The minigames have really good ones, but after some time the bad ones come. Why include Mecha Marathon?

With a grand total of one board, yes, ONE, instead of bringing classic boards like Superstars did, they just made a generic board. The board is what puts the minigames together. It should have more than what it has. Why

Why releasing this on the 3DS in 2017? The Switch had already been released! For some reason, Nintendo really wanted to extend the 3DS life. The only reason I see is to make the handhelds' minigames a better experience. But where are they? They aren't in the game. Neither in Superstars, but this is for another review. And in 2022, people still ask for Camera Shy to return.

Mario Party: The Top 100 could have been awesome, but it feels more like an incomplete project. And in 2021, Mario Party Superstars came to dig this one into the grave. Probably the most disappointing game from the franchise. And I don't think anyone is going to revisit it. (46/100)

Although the minigames are nice, there's nothing else to do. Just play all of a good Mario Party's minigames one-by-one, then go to play one of Star Rush's boards, then that's really Mario Party: The Top 100

A lot of included mini-games are genuinely fun, but those based on blind luck are completely useless. [03/2018, p.73]

A game that could have been lots of things. It could have been a tribute to a great franchise that is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary. It could have been a place of reference for active multiplayer gaming that offers pure fun. Instead, it is a collection of mini-games that can be compared to a trip down the memory lane – an opportunity to relive good gaming moments, which is marked by lack of elements that can give this title its proper place into the Mario Party fandom.

Mario Party: The Top 100 has its joyous moments, but it can't top 2016's Star Rush. [Issue #31 – January/February 2018, p. 34E]
