This is the first Mario Party game I can enjoy all the way through WITHOUT friends. With friends it's an absolute blast and everyone moving at the same time makes the games move quicker, skipping the time of boredom, waiting for others to move. With so many new modes there is a lot of variety here too. The best Mario Party by far, I think.

The game moves pretty fast, great for anyone who's got 10 minutes to kill. The tutorials are really short, sweet and to the point, the party also moves at a fast pace, not requiring anyone to simply sit and watch CPUs do their work. You're always going to be doing something!

The other game modes can be pretty fun, but not as much as the main mode. Coinathlon and Balloon Bash can be decent. Boo's Block Party is okay. But Mario Shuffle is boring and Challenge Tower is infuriating. However, the main mode towers over all, and those other modes can be easily ignored. There's always something to do in the game and so many things to collect.

The minigame selection however is a bit of a downer. Their isn't very many and of those few, only a handful of them are actually enjoyable. But the game makes up for it by putting in incredible bosses you can love to fight over and over again. Overall, this is the best "Mario Party" in the series and I love it!

The game offers many different game modes to play, many of which are rather fun to play. The Toad Scramble mode is an interesting twist to the series and isn't all that bad really of a mode, though it has it's cons. While the idea of collecting stars has finally returned to the series, Toad Scramble goes through a different method of obtaining them, this time being through the boss mini games seen in the past few installments. It isn't a bad thing, but I still prefer the board hunt method of the first 8 games. On top of that, Toad Scramble doesn't offer much in terms of excitement really. There are little to no board events, which makes traversing the board simplistic and boring, with nothing holding you back from getting to your destination. Everyone taking their turn at once does make the game go faster, but it does have a few issues, such as deciding who gets a Coin Balloon if two players pass it at the same time.

Other modes I've tried include the Balloon Bash mode, which I think is the best mode in the game. It's the closest gameplay to the original style, with players moving around a board to collect stars. The rules are a bit different and stars are not only easy to obtain due to the small boards, but also plentiful, as you can gain up to three stars at once at half the original star price. On top of that, collecting a Coin Balloon will always result in a mini game and the fact that the balloons are common means you'll likely play a mini game after each turn, which further feels like the original gameplay. It's not perfect, but it's close enough and that works for me at this point.

While I haven't played much outside those two modes, I can say that Mario Party: Star Rush is better than 9, 10 and Island Tour combined. It hasn't quite reached the height of Mario Parties 1-8 or DS or even Advance (yes, I loved that game), but it's good in it's own sense. A step in the right direction, even if it's a little by little process. Not the best, but not terrible, I'd recommend it for those who don't mind a bit of mindless, single player fun.

Well the gameplay or new gimmick is horrible and the minigames are unoriginal but there is something so fun about this game but I can't play this game without seeing the flaws.

This game seems to get a lot of medicore scores, but I think it's pretty good and worth buying if you like Mario Party games.

-Balloon Rush mode is like mini-games every other turn, my biggest peeve with previous Mario Party games were playing boards and only going through like 3 minigames
    -Amiibo support
    Cons:
-Maps don't have as many happenings '?'/event spaces as previous games
-Players have to download an app called "Party Guest" on the eshop to get the best experience. It's free, but just an extra step, not a huge con but listing anyway

Mario Party is back on the Nintendo 3DS and this time, we're going to destroy the purpose of having you to wait for your turn and let you play at any sort of time. This game, like the rest of the installments, keeps trying to be like the original, but it just fails to surprise at a single-player game. As a multiplayer game, I can accept that, but get Star Rush if you must instead of Island Tour.

The reason that Mario Party fails for the 3DS is that it does not work for the handheld unless there are a few people who have the 3DS to play with you cause as a single player it is boring. The Mario Party series were meant to play on game consoles to play with your friends.

Nintendo has officially run out of ideas. The concept of this game is garbage. It may be better than the recent Mario Party 9, 10 and Island tour, but this game is still bad. I can't give this game a good review. I endured the game for several hours, before selling it after only 1 week. I have lost hope in Mario Party, and what a shame because this franchise had amazing games.

An alright game, but feels like it has some of the best things the series could have offer have been stripped away or "mediocre-ized"... Not a waste of money, but not the best in the series either.

People should check out Mario Party Star Rush. As Mario Party continues to grow, the series will be receiving more installments such as Mario Party 11, Mario Party 12, etc. 2017's E3 might see an announcement of Mario's eleventh party outing for consoles, and the first for the upcoming Nintendo Switch! If you have played all of Star Rush, get ready because Mario Party 11 might be coming your way!

Its an overall ok game but in my opinion lack the traditional party game mode. The best gamemodes are (imo) Boos Block Party which is pretty much like Tetris Attack, and Mario Shuffle which plays like a board game. I usually just play it for 20 minutes then it gets boring and i leave it one a shelf for another fortnight

While there is plenty of things to do, the whole game feels lifeless and dull, the boards are small and have to rely on certain gimmicks to actually be interesting, and the minigames don't feel special or fun. There are some positives though, all the characters move at the same time which makes it more entertaining and allows for some fun moments. The game modes and gimmicks themselves aren't that bad either, "try to get the right combination of balloons" or "loose as many coins and games as possible" are two examples of this. Overall though, this game definitely feels like something that was created specifically to put something Mario related on shelves, definitely my least favorite Mario Party Game (besides Advance and Top 100) Expand

Toad Scramble is a fun individual play where you collect Mario characters to fight for stars, in addition to that there's plenty of side modes that offer so much content to entertain you for a long while.

The only downsides of this game is the lack of new mini games compared to its predecessors (there's around 60 compared to the 80/85 of the other games), everything else is well-crafted.

Mario Party: Star Rush is a tight collection of mini games which are fun even in single player. It’s just too bad that the main modes which encapsulate them aren’t entertaining at all. If you can overlook the grind, then it’s worth playing for the mini games. If you can’t, I’d look for a party elsewhere.

Mario does not need to feel ashamed for the standard of its gaming parties. It fully entertains in the beginning, highlight occurs when everyone is on a scene, and only in very late hours the fun fades and fatigue appears.
