It has some of the catchiest music in video games and i love how you go into five different mansions instead of just one. The ghosts are funny too and it has some great boss fights.

I love the music, humor and characters of this game, it's very enjoyable. However my only complaint is I don't like the controls, it seems to hurt my right hand after a short enough time of playing and I play my 3DS for a lot of hours a day with other games and haven't had this problem.

Had a lot of potential but wasn't executed as well as I hoped. The gameplay, graphics, story, mansion design, characters, and collectibles are all great. Also, E. Gadd becomes very annoying, calling you every 5 seconds when you need to do something. It seems foolish to have you touch the screen to answer him, because if you don't answer him Luigi just stands around. I would've expected something like Luigi looking into the player and telling him to answer the phone or something, but no such thing happened. I appreciate the attempt to bring back Luigi's Mansion, and for the most part it was done expertly well, but the mission based structure ruined the game for me in a sense. Expand

Well, its better than the first, that's for sure. Brighter colors, better controls, better animation, better levels, but 1 thing was on my mind the entire time I played it: it's more bland than the first one. The ghosts in the first one had better designs, especially the bosses. But that doesn't stop if from being a great game!

Gameplay consists of using the poltergust-5000 to suck up ghosts and clear different areas of poltergeists. Carefully inspecting the environment to find hiding ghosts is a key element in this game. Puzzles are also present throughout the campaign and it can become challenging from time to time. However, boss battles were disappointingly easy and provided little challenge. The Scarescraper, the multiplayer aspect of Luigi's Mansion, requires teamwork with others online. There's a small variation between the different game modes and they can be customized with floor amount and even difficulty. It provides extra playability once the story mode has been completed.

    Story:
Luigi's Mansion takes place in various locations within Evershade Valley. King Boo has destroyed and stolen the Dark Moon and scattered the pieces in different locations. With the Dark Moon gone, all the ghosts have become dangerous and aggressive! It is up to Luigi to find the pieces and restore peace to Evershade Valley!

    Graphics:
The art direction of Luigi's Mansion should be applauded for their use of different color schemes. Dark rooms with dark color schemes indicates the presence of ghosts while empty rooms are bright and full of color. The use of 3D also adds immersion to the game and shows how 3D is still a useful feature in many 3DS games.

    Verdict:
Luigi's Mansion is a game that every 3DS owner should play! Veterans of the series can expect a sequel that lives up to the original and new players can expect a polished and solid gameplay experience! I recommend this game!

there are some downsides in my opinion however, and they affect the gameplay to the point that they unfortunately drag the whole experience down a bit. the first game was much more about exploration, and you could more freely explore the Mansion at your own pace, while this game is much more based on a mission-structure, where you'll constantly be brought back to Prof. E.Gadd each time you perform a task. that unfortunately creates a more restricted kind of gameplay, and is also a bit annoying.

but overall, the game is quite fun and you'll be amazed at some of it's clever puzzles, challenging boss-fights, and excellent visuals. in my opinion, not as good as the first game, but a really fun experience nonetheless.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is a good game. The original for gamecube is much better in my opinion though. what i didnt like:
    1. You have to complete mission to save. nuff said, thats not cool
    2. Horrible confusion: i found myself looking forever for what to do, only to find i missed something random with the dark light machine thingy.
    3. Some of the missions are, well, lame. e.g. the one were you go around cleaning up spider webs from the mansion. real fun.

It is quite repetitive and pretty much the same throughout the game, dazzle them plus some vacuum power. I think much more can be done with that and at the moment, after a few hours in the game capturing the ghosts gets tedious. Also the mission structure cripples the game in general, you constantly get messages from the professor and they only let you explore a part of the mansion at once which kills the whole exploration concept a bit.

Said that, I think this is a pretty enjoyable game, the mansions and Luigi are lovely and it is fun to play in general. The 3D effect is quite awesome and the graphics, in general, are quite good.

Summarising, I think the game is good but I don’t think is a masterpiece. I think it needs urgent improvement. They limit quite badly the exploration potential but puzzles are excellent, although they could be a bit harder. I think this universe is wonderful but I think it is a bit restricted with the whole haunted mansion concept. Don’t get me wrong the design of the mansions is amazingly well made, they don’t feel repetitive, but still, they’re just mansions; I was thinking why not expanding the concept, why not the whole kingdom gets haunted and go to woods, caves, mountains and stuff. Anyway, some really good stuff in this game, I just feel it could be significantly bigger and better; it definitely has potential to be a masterpiece.

Almost as good as the first one. This sequel is a must have title for the 3ds. 3d effect is beautiful. Game is difficult... specially final stages. but is a joy to go trough. the world variety is nice but is kinda annoying you are pulled out the level every time yo reach the objective. instead of you deciding when to leave and keep finding crystals and boos. thats my only complaint.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good game! I like the idea of having short missions, so you can play one or two missions a day. Getting 3 Star ratings can be very difficult but its not impossible or important to beat the game... Catching the boos is not that annoying anymore like in Luigi's mansion GCN. BUT
No portrait ghosts with "spacial" character
Catching polterpup over and over again is very boring an annoying
Some of the bosses are boring and too easy to beat... I mean a Staircase? Really? And the game is kinda buggy sometimes... I personally had no problems with bugs but some other people had a few of them, but I think that comes from the game being to big for the 3ds...

Yes the game has some problems but I had fun with it (my favourit mansion was the 3rd)

The first thing you learn in Luigi's Mansion 2 is 'don't die'. Because dying means being sent back to the beginning of the mission and losing all your progress. You could be 20-30 minutes in then you die and have to do it all again. For me this led to a lack of motivation to complete the game and is the reason it took me quite along time to finish.

Having said that the game is very good and has a lot of charm. Luigi's mannerisms in this game are hilarious. The way he cowers and creeps about nervously or just the way he says 'hello?' is so amusing. The games mechanics are solid though combating ghosts is never as much fun as the exploring and puzzle solving aspects.

I spent around 19 hours with Luigi's Mansion 2 but never felt compelled to search for all the hidden items and bonus levels so it is quite along game which I enjoyed despite some niggles.

If Next Level Games had opted to make Dark Moon more of an open-world experience, granting the player free will to poke around its gloomily graceful environments without continual check-in interruptions, it could have been equated to a minor masterpiece.
