    80's Overdrive is a fun and enjoyable arcade-style racing game that will certainly resonate with long-time fans of this style. Its main flaws lie mostly on the lack of a multiplayer mode and a gameplay that sometimes may feel a bit frustrating but overall, the experience is rewarding and well worthy of the player's time.

    80’s Overdrive is a very pretty game with really good core mechanics and some really questionable and frankly unnecessary complications layered on top. The take home here is that I really liked it until I didn’t anymore. I still pop in from time to time, but this is not a game I’m particularly compelled to play long-term.

    I've played this game now 5 hrs. Don't expect this to be more than a short distraction.

    There are no night drives. No tunnels. No construction sites. No refueling while driving. Don't expect the diversity or challenge that you experienced in Outrun or Lotus 3.
    This game has extreme rubber banding. Touch slighty a bush or car and you are instantenously last place with no really chance to win the race in career.
    Fuel and damage adds nothing to the game, it just punishes you with excesive unnecessary costs. A full car repair is 5000 bucks - thats more than a new car or several upgrades! You have to do several races just to repair your car with no really progress.
    It's possible that you are not able to win a race even if playing perfectly if you don't have enough upgrades. You even lose money by going 3rd place. Not very encouraging if you choose a "harder" track that is unlocked, and you are not possible to win.
    In the track editor the most "difficult" tracks aren't a challenge at all. At least you don't have to brake once.
    Time attack mode is better but you have to go through career to get a better car.
    It looks like it's better not to buy a new car, should upgrade the old one.
    Expect to race the first round dozens of times because you get out of money because of race fees, repair costs and unfair crashes, and you can't afford the race fee for better tracks.
    This game is not bad, but it's no new master piece either. Nice graphics and music, driving isn't very challenging, and you get punished instead of encouraged in this game.
    You can't influence the other cars at all. I've even seen a police car racing unhindered through the bushes in the middle lane. And you will curse at these bushes you can barely avoid that pop out of nowhere and you can't see in time if you're racing uphill. So don't drive in the middle lane.
    I think this game is worth 5 bucks, but not 10. I don't recommend it if you get easily frustrated or don't like to grind the same tracks several times. A very good alternative is Out Run 3D that lacks the music and graphics, but is more interestingly to drive and has adjustable difficulty and is only 5 bucks.    … Full Review »

    If all you new about the 80s was from this game you would think, well, that's fun here and there but it's not exactly hooking.
