Though multiple connections to the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before Franchise still exist, the show has grown into its own identity. Its final episode wraps up many of the season’s primary stories, but leaves several key emotional and plot threads worth exploring should Netflix decide to greenlight a third season.

XO, Kitty is still, at times, cheesy and over-the-top, as all the best teen shows are. Yet it also wears its heart on its sleeve and has an infectious energy that sucks you in.

While there seems to be a lot of story to sort through in Season 2, the reason why XO, Kitty continues to work is because of Cathcart’s exuberant charm.

The best thing about XO, Kitty is still Cathcart, whose performance remains the driving force of the series. Her energy keeps us invested in the story, even in the less interesting moments. .... However, XO, Kitty's problems become more apparent when the show leans away from the main characters to dedicate a little time to everyone else.

The ingredients are there, but the writing is not. And when the finale sets up a potentially more interesting future, it’s hard not to roll your eyes.
