The producers of Work of Art have managed to take something that is never a big draw (excuse the unintentional cheesy pun), art, and have made it into something so enlightening and, yes, exciting that it's positively magical.

Like "Project Runway," there's creativity involved in this competition. And the fact that it's a competition, and therefore orchestrated and produced by necessity, makes it seem less fake-real.

Work of Art itself manages to elevate this often schlocky genre into an entertaining celebration of the process of creation, with some startling and visionary (and occasionally disturbing) pieces produced under intense pressure.

Watching them through this process turns out to be surprisingly interesting.
