This show is a complete travesty from the original film, Shame on you Disney, once more you destroy a franchise, hoping for the day you go bankrupt.

Ruined the franchise by making it into a crappy teen cringe drama. If Disney want to make this kind of crap why do they keep tacking it onto beloved franchises?

a very bad series I do not recommend it, they ruined the story, apart from adding the damn agenda.

When I was a kid, I loved the movie. This TV series is nothing like the movie. The editing, the dialogue, the acting, the storyline are all awful. It literally checked off all the boxes for millennial wokeness in the first 20 minutes of the first episode. And as a kicker, the attempted humor is both awkward and flat. The story is about rescuing a prince, yet there seems to be no actual urgency or deep enough concern in the first two episodes to actually rush to wherever it is they need to be in order to do the rescuing. They just spend time in some woods bickering at one another and dealing with their feelings and emotions over whether or not they are good enough to live the lives they dreamed of, not the ones their parents want them to lead. Oh the millennial drama! It's so anti adventure that I'm going to have to pass on the rest of the season. But for those of you who do want a modern millennialesque saga complete with coming of age and overly sensitive dialogue and themes set in a fantasyland, you might want to stick it out.

    PAINFUL!!
Literally within the first couple minutes of dialogue between the characters it was evident that this was some of the worst, most cringe-worthy dialogue ever experienced - head-shakingly bad!! That and the totally inane happenings were nothing less than astounding!

To say 5th graders could do better is an insult to 5th graders! Besides struggling to stay awake through the first 40 minutes or so, It became so apparent that this was nothing more than complete and total trash, that we felt we simply could not withstand anymore and had to turn it off!
"Entertainment" is supposed to be engaging and enthralling, not sleep-inducing and mind-numbingly stupid!!

Like so many recent sequels and reboots from Disney. It suffers from cringe writing and eye rolling casting. This show apparently wasn't worth the effort by Disney and it isn't worth your effort as the audience to give it a chance.

Turned it off half way through. The modern dialog the teens have makes no sense especialy when so many other characters feel more like fantasy character which is dirupted by the main characters. Then the tantrum with tones of Merida from Brave falls on its face. This was an easy success that was ruined before it got started. Growing up Willow was right up there with Starwars and Conan. Too bad Disney could not get out of its own way. I was hoping for something more like Andor as a next series to watch but, instead of the next chapter in in the world of willow we got a modern teen drama lightly wrapped in an awaome story. I hope the have the decency to apogize to George Lucas for an awful us of his IP.

We've already seen it a bunch of times and I wouldn't be surprised if we see more. The showrunners are just using the old cult IPs to get their fanfiction to be watched and discussed, even if it's mostly caused by outrageous mockery of the original shows. Well, at least they'll be able to portray the victim in the mainstream media.

Strangely bad bland YA fantasy comedy
I wont lie Willow is one of my favorite films of all time. It could be called a childrens fantasy made by adults for adults. The acting, music and story are superb.
This is the opposite of any of that. Its so strange to watch. Its like one of those generic spot filler YA fantasy movies thats just a vehicle for some disney star, but even in that

Its like one of those generic spot filler YA fantasy movies thats just a vehicle for some disney star, but even in that context the writing pacing and action are so bland. Like Twilight bland. If nothing else they went super cheap on the writing. Its like an intern chained to a desk wrote this in 20 minutes and the cast are just collecting paycheck.
Really disappointed that Disney would take an IP like Willow and dump out schedule filler trash like this.

Okay, 1st Episode, 30min. in and I already know what this is leading to. Yes, you are right. Another deconstruction of a beloved 80s movie. Save your lifetime. This TV Series isn't worth it... I won't continue watching... Sad, but true... Again.

You wonder how George Lucas feels. On the one hand, four billion dollars. On the other hand, everything you ever worked towards or cared about is completely destroyed by talentless hacks. I would probably have just kept my company rather than see the innocent story I worked on be turned to this. There is a book about what actually happened after Willow, by the way. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I grew up in the 1980s and Willow was definitely a favorite. I was excited for the series, until about halfway through episode 1. At first I thought we were gonna get a buddy adventure between the two female leads and I thought, "Wow, this could work: two female adventures going on a quest to save the world!" That excitement quickly dashed when I realized that this was going to be another rehashing of every woke person's wet dreams. Mad Martigans son a wuss, didn't see that coming. Why is everything that my generation loved and cherished being destroyed? I cant even watch the rest of the series now because i know where its going and dont care. Can we not have this wokeness in our faces at every turn. We get it. Plus, the director defending it as "organic " and "not intentional" is a load of BS. Expand

It’s modern Disney so you already know it’s going to be a soulless nightmare made by people who hate the IP, but this was bad even for them. Childish writing. Atrocious acting. Terrible CGI. An absolute disaster of a show.

Is it woke? You bet - but it's also badly written and badly acted and further cements Disney as a corporation in decline and one becoming further and further estranged from their core audience - 2 stars for Warwick Davis

    Pros: The visuals look great.
Cons: The writing is Attack of the Clones meets the CW. The acting relies on the writing. The acting is bad. No consistency with accents. The queen's children are weak, spoiled brats that we are to believe are the stuff of heroes. The script reads like a virtue signaling checklist. The plot is dreadful. I'd write more but my minimum

I was super psyched to see this. The original film- for all its cheese- is very entertaining. This sequel is less than a shadow of a "peck".
Jackson's Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones (excluding the dismal last season) paved the way for great fantasy cinema but instead, we've been plagued with Wheel of Time, Rings of Power and now Willow.
Fantasy films/TV series need a savior.

I still wish that "Willow" were as consistently electric from the start as it eventually becomes from the third episode onward. Then again, if "Willow" takes a couple of episodes to find its greatness, perhaps the story's spirit dictates that is as it should be.

The new “Willow” feels a little fan-fiction-y. Some will surely lap it up, but I can’t imagine this series, despite its big budget, registering in the pop culture zeitgeist in the same way “Star Wars” and Marvel shows on Disney+ sometimes do.
