With an excellent cast, veteran producers, and immaculate craft work, there’s a winning method to this madness — so sit back and enjoy the show.
-
What We Do in the Shadows hasn't only hit its best and most comedic stride yet; like the vampires it's centered around, this series is damn near immortal, and television is all the better for it.
-
Remains as sharp and witty as ever in its fourth season. Even as it charts new ground, FX’s hit continues to be TV’s most absurdly entertaining half-hour comedy. ... Spontaneity is ultimately alive and well in this fourth season, whose only minor shortcoming is the loss of old-school Colin Robinson’s monotonous drollness.
-
What We Do in the Shadows has always excelled in leveraging its unique blend of absurdist comedy and emotional payoff, and Season 4 is no different. The new episodes seem sure to please returning fans and entice those looking to start their journey.
-
Even in a season that immediately abandons its characters’ ambitions to plop them back in the same old house, there are fresh angles to play — and in the case of Proksch, one horrifying new man-child to inhabit.
-
There’s plenty of material here to fill the breezy half-hour episodes of What We Do in the Shadows, where bits ricochet wildly off crown molding and claw foot furniture.
-
It’s a tough balance in a comedy when the characters become so entrenched that it can start to feel like they’re spinning their wheels, even if we love them. “Shadows” isn’t quite there yet, but one can sense it on the edges of these episodes, hopefully, pushed away by the rest of the season. Of course, the cast and writers are smart enough to do exactly that. And there’s evidence of their wit in all four of these chapters.
-
Based on what I’ve seen so far of the new season, the biggest issue with the prior one remains: there’s little interaction outside the dyads of Nadja/The Guide, Nandor/Guillermo, and Laszlo/Colin.

Aug 18, 2022Season 4 is a big improvement over season 3. It's just a little uneven.

Nov 24, 2022Excellent season, a strong return to form after a more erratic season 3. Remains the best comedy on TV at the moment.
