So basically what I saw is that Netflix cancelled Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to hire other people who basically sold them the same series with a more brooding, darker character.

The truth is that it is advertised as his show because he is the producer with the most famous name.

I can't deny that the series will be successful. Audience reactions on social media have been positive, but it just goes to show that cyclically most people like to see something recycled, just with a new facade.

I won't say it's a poor show, because there is care in its making, but there is absolutely nothing special about it.

Good for a look at a few babes in black, but that and a couple cameos can’t save this from its poor writing, predictable nature, and weird casting. Went in willing to put aside my preconceptions, but it’s definitely not worthy of the high praise some bestow upon it.

I liked the dark humour of the main character for a while before the plot becomes more and more predictable and the last episode "Scooby Doo-ish"

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Really wanted to like this. Tim Burton, Adams family, match made in haven. Oa top of that a Wednesday that can compete with Christina Riccis performance, what can go wrong? Well for some reason kinda everything! While on the first episode I thought all dreams are becoming reality, the further the season dragged on I started to believe I am watching an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer ( Come to think of it her Roommate clearly is Alyson Hannigan Expand

This is going to awaking the "Sexy Goth Girl" thirst for a lot of young boys and I'm all for it.

Guter Humor, fängt stark an und lässt stark nach.Wenn man nicht weiss was man schauen soll. Dann ist es ein ganz netter Zeitvertreib. Die 8 Folgen sind kein riesen Highlight aber ganz ok.

Interesting show has funny moment but maintains a set of seriousness. Replicates things that happened in the original show The Addams Family to give people a spin-off story about Wednesday Addams.

Unfortunately, I just feel that Wednesday is massively overrated tbh. It seems like it blatantly rides the coattails of more iconic media (seriously there was so much Harry Potter in this it was overt) and it felt suuuuper predictable. The dialogue was kinda bad and it felt like it was crafted by a bunch of old people trying to emulate how they think teenagers speak. It's a shame as I do think there is a lot of heart in it, but i just really can't ignore how bad the execution is. I constantly was eye-rolling and just being like 'why did the character do that, that doesn't make any sense'. I just feel really let down by it, I thought its popularity might lend itself to a good product but it's basically just a HUGE miss. Such a shame. Expand

Decent but way over rated. Jenna Ortega is great in the main role, however the other characters are kinda meh. There are a few twists which I enjoyed, but overall the CGI is very cheap looking (like why does the monster look like that?) and the show can be cringey at times. I did like 'thing' though. 6.5/10.

If CW dramas are your jam, you might like “Wednesday.” I was mostly bored and found the plot machinations predictable. “Wednesday” is at its best when it leans into the mordant humor Wednesday evinces.

It’s Ortega’s star power alone that helps drive this series from the very beginning into something that could have been mediocre into a totally watchable and exciting twist on a familiar franchise. ... While this adaptation makes some strange decisions, it ends up working in a weird way, which will interest both old and new viewers.

It loses something by not setting Wednesday against normality, as the films did, and by having a more fissured version of the Addams clan. The love and unity of the family against the world was always one of the great pleasures, in whatever incarnation you met them. But it has enough wit, charm and propulsive energy for that not to matter as much as it might have.
