Season 1 Review: Rooted in history but not beholden to it, the show might provoke one or two viewers to crack a book seeing if this is how it actually unfolded, which isn't a bad thing. Yet nor is that really necessary, with "Vikings: Valhalla" working plenty well simply as escapist drama, covering a great deal of story in a season that still leaves room for battles and brawls to come. Season 1 Review: After a well-paced opening episode the plot starts to drag, mainly when it focuses on a female character, Freydís Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson), back in Scandinavia while the main action takes place in England. It is much better when giving us battle scenes, or the machinations involving Æthelred's callow son, Edmund, and shrewd widow, Emma of Normandy. Read full review

Great show! Exciting, fast paced with an engaging plot and lots of twists and turns. The political intrigue is really well done too. It plays fast and loose with history, but who cares? It isn’t a documentary. Highly recommended!

I was going to give this show an 8, but after all the hate it’s getting from legit racists, I’ll give it a ten. There’s one black chick in here, and all these dudes are so unbelievably butthurt about it that they give this show, that has so many great qualities, a 0. If ever there was a show that showcased over-acting, this is it. There are times when it just looks like a bunch of actors, standing around looking like they are acting. It lacks the subtle nuances that truly great shows have, there is no need to read between the lines. This is a great showIf ever there was a show that showcased over-acting, this is it. As soon as I saw that the queen was black, I immediately turned off the show. I thought I was watching a show about vikings, but I guess not. Imagine if they made a show about an old African tribe and they made the king white. It's the exact same thing and it's absolutely ridiculous.

ust because they traded furs for silver coins from arabs doesn't mean vikings were a multicultural hippie love fest.

Netflix is racist for doing this.

History Channel was wrong. In the eleventh century there were African women who dominated the largest Viking cities. There were non-binary Vikings with unicorns ready to defend themselves against the ugly white English invader.

Anyone who claims that anyone is upset that this show isn’t a racist show is a racist. The supposedly historically accurate show has decimated white/European culture. This is a white wash.
