    I am a Francophile. I waited patiently for this show to premiere on American TV. It's ridiculous that the show is entirely in English, and some of the French pronunciation is poor, but overall the show is a treat to watch. If you liked the episodes of the second season of Outlander that took place in France, or if you like movies that take place at Versailles, this show is for you.

    Normal every day person here. I really like this show, intrigue, fancy clothes, sex, power. It's not historically accurate but if I wanted that I would watch the History Channel. It's a lot of fun and I really enjoy it.

    No sé mucho sobre el periodo, por lo que no puedo hablar del rigor histórico. Como serie me encanta. Su fotografía, vestuario, guión, trama, ambientación, cómo va convirtiendo la corte en Versalles en lo que nos ha llegado hasta nuestros días: cada aspecto de la vida del Rey como una celebración, como un espectáculo en la que los nobles se pelean por obtener el favor del Rey y susNo sé mucho sobre el periodo, por lo que no puedo hablar del rigor histórico. Como serie me encanta. Su fotografía, vestuario, guión, trama, ambientación, cómo va convirtiendo la corte en Versalles en lo que nos ha llegado hasta nuestros días: cada aspecto de la vida del Rey como una celebración, como un espectáculo en la que los nobles se pelean por obtener el favor del Rey y sus maquinaciones para quitar de en medio a sus familiares para heredar títulos y riqueza. Muy recomendable.

    Quizá abusa de algunos planos en cuanto a desnudos integrales femeninos. No es por ser puritano, pero no tienen sentido alguno. Y a veces parece que se recrean.

    Admirably staged and acted, this sumptuous production is sabotaged by its script. Historical inaccuracy abounds and renders the enterprise far less compelling than it should be. The tale of Louis XIV and his court is actually quite fascinating; a better script would make Versailles a grand experience for television viewers, including those who know little, and much, of the history.

    The series looks astoundingly cheap. ... The anachronistic electronic score by Eduardo Noya Schreus, aka NOIA, gives a galvanizing jolt to what is otherwise an irritatingly unoriginal production.

    Versailles has glamor and spectacle, but it’s hardly an epic drama. It dreamily drifts along for the first few episodes, introducing the characters and concentrating on outrageous behavior. All the military-strategy sessions blur together.

    The sprawling story is definitely more concerned with soapy plots than the realities of court and the battle for power between the Protestant and Roman Catholic Church, a la Wolf Hall, but like Versailles itself the results are charmingly ostentatious.
