This show is like nothing I've seen before, a cinematic masterpiece dare I say. Do not listen to the philistines that continually hate-watch this show with their blind rage because they think it's too 'woke' for them.

'Velma' is a TV series overflowing with life and emotion, it is clearly evident that the producers devoted great care and effort in making this modern instalment of the Scooby-Doo franchise.

One of the things that makes 'Velma' a masterpiece is its timeless appeal. The show's format of a group of friends solving mysteries has been replicated in various forms, but the chemistry and dynamic between the characters of Velma is truly special. The show's humor and slapstick comedy appeals to both children and adults, making it a show that can be enjoyed by the whole family.

Another aspect that makes 'Velma' a masterpiece is its ability to evolve with the times while still staying true to its roots. The show has undergone several revamps and updates over the years, but the core elements of mystery-solving and comedic relief have remained constant. This has allowed the franchise to stay relevant and continue to attract new fans.

'Velma' is also serves as a great educational tool for children. The show teaches valuable lessons about teamwork, friendship, and the importance of not jumping to conclusions. In addition, the show also addresses important social issues such as environmental conservation, racism and discrimination.

In conclusion, Velma is a true masterpiece of children's entertainment. Its timeless appeal, ability to evolve with the times, and educational value make it a show that will continue to be enjoyed by generations to come.

We are not children eating cereal on Saturday morning anymore. Just as we have grown and changed it isn't a far stretch that a beloved cartoon might do the same. To the confused boomers and sensitive Gen Z; This show is like taking the 90s Gen Z movies like Natural Born Killers and mixing it with millennial cartoons like South Park and Family guy that pushes boundaries with humor. A modern retelling of the Scooby Doo mysteries with slap stick humor and actual blood is funny. Taking it a step further and adding ethnicity and watching baby boomers and conservatives crumble adds to the hilarity outside of the show itself. It's like a two for one deal for Gen Z and Millennials. I hope people stop pretending they don't know who the show is for when it is clear, it is for those who don't care what others think and can make a joke out of it. Like me, every single negative review only made me curious and I'm glad because I really enjoyed it. Expand

It isn't great, but it isn't terrible. It isn't a zero-star show by any means. Have you seen the classic Scooby-doo episodes as an adult? They're nostalgic, but they're made for 6-year-olds.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. 4/10 because we need a new take on the old show. But... Velma suffers from not only bad writing but, well, Velma is a horrible human being and nothing like the original:

- Velma is abusive. She insults and manipulates those around her including her supposed love interests/best friends.

- Constantly considers everyone else less than her for their race, gender, and appearance.

- She insulted Norville and Gigi by saying he's only with her because she's easy.

- She literally beat Daphne, her former friend, with a crowbar and wishes she had hit her harder so she died.

- She also breaks into Fred's house, constantly body shames him for things beyond his control, never apologizes for falsely accusing him which led to him being humiliated and shot, and then tells him she finds him revolting after he becomes a feminist.

- She twerks (!) over his mother's corpse while Norville is throwing up his guts over the fact he just killed someone and she doesn't think twice to go and help him.

- She also accused, without evidence mind you, Norville's dad of being the killer and didn't even apologize to either one of them.

- She locks out her father, stepmother, and newborn half-sister out of their own home just so she can have it with her mom, who never really cared about her and why would she?

Velma is a terrible human being. And I get the feeling that the anim studio is not honest with the public on how unpopular creating such horrible characters is, if the original character was, well, literally the opposite. I am sure if would have caused less drama if Velma was some unknown new IP nobody cares about afterwards.

The jokes fall flat. The characters not being likable seems to be by intention ala Always Sunny or "Married with Children" or the "World of Jerkass" trope on TV Tropes; you are not supposed to be rooting for Velma, though most Youtube reviewers have found a soft-spot for Fred as he is merely ignorant with horrible overbearing parents instead of selfish & malignant like the rest of the cast. The art & coloring are good compared to anything on Nick or CN, but the shading & highlighting could have been pushed further. The show improves by episode 4 when the show starts to build lore. The characters do not mature or learn from past mistakes. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I feel like the folks who wrote this show were tripping on a special type of acid and really forgot what they learnt at writing school. The show is all over the place, it claims it wants to be a murder mystery but it really isn’t. It’s more about an obnoxious teenage self righteous nerd (Velma), trying to find herself. And whole mystery panic attack thing is another doll addition. It’s not entirely terrible, there are a few giggles here and there, but the fact that the show isn’t coherent quickly erases the good from it. If the show wasn’t a Scooby Doo IP, I might have given it a 4.5/10. Which is still bad but at least a better score. The show feels like it’s written by serious amateurs or high school students and not professional scriptwriters. Expand

It is generic, quite flat, and also, full of hatred towards others. Grandy wrote for SNL (128 episodes), even for The Daily Show under Jon Stewart. Granted, he did not do anything worth mentioning for 10 years. But, please, he must have done something right in his life. So, how come he messed up Velma so hard? Velma is probably an example of an aging writer who is pessimistic about the world, but instead of creating his own IP and legacy, he borrows a child's series? And then he turns it upside down, mocking the characters, and harming other characters. But what for? Really, during his SNL time, he did not learn anything about uniqueness and audience? How did the mess of Velma pass the exec producers, managers, animators, and voice actors? No internal criticism? Could the production company be internally somewhat dysfunctional? Expand

A series for those who hate Scooby-Doo (as well as detectives and good humor). The authors pile on tons of cringe.
And believe me, this is far from a case of "so bad it's even good". More than anything, this show resembles an adaptation of a fanfic written by a 14-year-old schoolgirl.
There is no: interesting plot, atmosphere or funny jokes.

But a separate mention must be made of the characters, they just took and twisted the characters we have known since 1969. And I'm not talking about the change of skin color and sexual orientation (very strange decisions), but about the characters themselves: Velma is no longer a smart girl detective, she became very rude and unpleasant, Daphne is a drug dealer, Fred became a hysterical freak, and Shaggy - well, he's just a piece of garbage.

I think Charlie Grandy, the writers and Mindy Kaling should be cancelled for this.

Animation quality is poor, they cut Scooby entirely, tone of the show is all wrong, weirdly political for a show that's supposed to be about teenagers solving mysteries with their talking great dane.

I, for one, isn't shocked by this. Normally a show with these laughable ratings would be cancelled - of course - but shows that has a clear agenda pretty much always get one or two seasons more until it's finally cancelled, because 1. Excuses, pushing blame and total incapability to admit they might actually suck at this. "We're just being review bombed! There CAN'T be other reasons!" 2. The network is afraid of bringing down the axe, in fear of being called this or the other.
My advice to the networks: just stop encouraging shows like this. Stop wasting money on shows that undoubtedly will be cancelled and forgotten 1 or 2 years down the line anyways.

Hateful and mean-spirited, the whole show is Mindy Kaling projecting her insecurities about not being white and pretty onto the titular character, turning her into a hostile, racist, sexist spitballer. All the while playing the victim card and projecting her own bigotry onto everyone else. This toxic stew isn't Scooby Doo at all. They simply got the licensing to use - or should I say, abuse - the Scooby Doo characters because the producers wouldn't buy Kaling's series pitch otherwise. It's that bad. Expand

The show is so bad that a lot of people think it was created to get viewers into „Hate watching“ to boost viewership and social media presence. Also it is a Scooby-Doo show without Scooby-Doo while you barley recognize the other characters. I would not recognize Velma, Shaggy (aka Norville) or Daphne. Fred I would recognize by looks but he is dumb down to incompetent moron. I feels so different that I would not be surprised if this was something completely different before they added the Scooby-Doo name. I loved the Scooby-Doo cartons as kid and have watched dozens of episodes. With this the show feels like an insult in comparison. To be fair the animations are good and the voice actors deliver their roles. I would not hold a bad script against a voice actor or actor. The script and changes are the main source of the problems. Do not pull out the misogyny or racist defense as this is not the case. We nerds like strong female leads like Ellen Ripley, Buffy, the original Velma, Dr. Jordan Cavanaugh and many more. Diversity is neither a problem. I like Peter Grant, Rozie Oshodie, Michelle Yeoh and many other characters. A bad show is just a bad show. Look at “House of Dragons” for comparison how they silenced the critics with awesome characters, a great story and a huge entertainment value. Overall I have to give a 0/10 which pains me for a Scooby-Doo show but there was no other choice. Expand

The writer's lack such awareness of what they write in an attempt to virtual signal, that they end up being r@cist and s3xist. Were this show to race & gender reverse the jokes to be about black people or any other race, the show would be canceled in seconds and the writers would never have jobs again. The second grave sin committed by this show is how the show takes nothing from the actual scooby doo series other than it's a mystery and velma solves mysteries. I’ve seen shows disrespect its source material, but I’ve never seen a show which disrespects the original series this much and convinces me that the writers have also never seen or heard of scooby doo before. Freddy is just an ‘evil white male’ stereotype. Daphene is an ‘evil hot white b****’ stereotype. Shaggy is not a hippy, looks and acts nothing like shaggy and has a secret crush on Velma. Velma is an aggressive woke feminist.

The show tries so hard to be meta, and edgy, constantly breaking the 4th wall, awkwardly adding nudity of minors (15 year olds). The show, while trying to fight the ‘evil s3xist creepy white males’ ends up sexualizing children! It doesn’t get more ironic than that. I’m sure the Velma show runners are patting themselves on their rumps, that they have generated so much publicity for this show, using the same tired tactic that it must be racists and sexists who dont like the show and that’s why some people think it’s bad. No, it’s just a bad show. Regardless of your political affiliation, this show is pure cringe.

Nothing about thisI expected a garbage show with the most horrible jokes and a complete failure at representation and holy mother of Scooby-Doo's grave (Since they decided to delete him from existence), it is far worse than I EVER expected. Nothing about this show is remotely close to getting me to feel any positive emotion or does anything even close to making these characters likeable in the slightest. You idiots were warned about your decisions from fans of the show and even the casual viewers of it yet you still went through with producing this botched, aimless trash heap as if you actually think you're doing something "unique". Piss off with the forced race switching, genuinely nobody asked for it in any alternate time line. Instead of writing entirely new characters, you modified these lovable characters who I personally grew up with absolutely adoring and just ruined them in all aspects, Shaggy isn't even close to his character before so at this point, just write in a new character and he could be black and nobody would care if you just bothered to write him into the story correctly. I miss Scooby, I miss Shaggy, I miss Daphne, I miss Fred, I even miss that stupid Scrappy-Doo dog cause even he was even written better than whatever this lame excuse of a show is meant to be.

Thanks for the laughs at you HBO, not this show as it's more boring than watching paint dry, you **** genuinely made me hate Scooby Doo now so thank **** all your garbage is still not in the UK.
