Flat characters, lazy writing, and terrible pacing make this a total waste of a solid premise. Greg Daniels has made some great shows - this isn't one of them.

There are a handful of visual gags in each episode, but only a couple good jokes in the whole season. The characters are cartoonishly simple, with no depth at all, and the decisions they make are often nonsensical - just hamfistedly pushing the story along.

There's some light sci-fi appeal in the potential bugs that might come with a virtual afterlife, but it's a grab-bag of random ideas that don't fit together as a logical whole. If you've ever seen an episode of Black Mirror and thought, "I don't get it", this might be more your speed.

Oh and there's a clumsy murder-mystery that never gets resolved, a handful of hamfisted sermons about the evils of class stratification, and a super-funny-so-hilarious episode-long joke about how skinny jeans are soooooo tight.

I don't understand how this show got on the air, much less how it's so highly rated.

A go-nowhere knockoff of The Good Place with a sci-fi VR twist. Pilot was passable but just went downhill after that with a serious lack of tone, humor or direction. Avoid.

But nothing about it works, except the bellboy assistant ai...sometimes. This whole show feels like a bad hallmark movie meets a bad Sci fi Network original. Everything feels cheap, especially the script...and the acting and directing. Few of the endless gags and "jokes" are even marginally funny. And never clever. Which is bizarre given the fantastic possibilities of this premise. The characters and plot points are so incredibly poorly written and ill conceived, and things are forced endlessly in order to ensure that great plot points occur that are never earned.

Also, it borrows its intros from Silicon Valley--a far superior show. It also is reminiscent at times of MANIAC on Netflix, which is a clearly superior show as well by lightyears.

Nothing in this show works. The only reason you might watch it is the premise and the hope that it might get better one day. But it NEVER does. It will let you down in most every way.
